Ok, just wanted to make sure. Call or email Spektrum, give full details on how many changes and adjustments you have made. They may have a solution, or may send you a new one, and you send them the old one.

You can use Blue rx's with this and they bind just fine. Orange don't seem to work for some reason. Blues are available for around $10-12.

Just for the sake of it, I would try going to a new model on your remote, don't do anything except for bind it and setup the throttle and see if it still does it. What you are experiencing in my experience has always been ESC related but if you have tried a few, maybe some setting got changed. If it works after this, you can go back and reset that other model profile or just setup this new one and go from there.

Also, there are some modes that even in inhibit, they still work. So, always set the setting back to stock, and then change to inhibit.

I can assure you that the receivers are not made for $5. And just because someone puts something out for $10 does not make it a quality product. It may work for a bit but likely isnt working as it should. It always amazes me when someone will spend 500-1000 on a vehicle and then trust it to a $10 receiver they know is a knock off. I can tell you that if someone were driving a 5th scale around and had one of these receivers in it, I would not be anywhere near them.

Also, we have dsmr receivers starting at $30 so that gets you on the latest rf signal which is far superior and that is not too much to ask.

So why don't you have a Lipo battery for this radio that is higher than just 6 volts, as I don't trust your standard battery setup, and I would not use it on a 5th scale either. Until I went to NiZN batteries, your system was not very good at all. Why didn't the factory realize that this radio does have issues at or near low voltage, in fact all Spektrum radios have issues at or near low voltage. The only fix is a higher voltage system, such as the NIZN batteries.

Does anyone know if the grips from the dx4r are compatible with the dx3r?

Yes, they look the same.

Also regarding receivers- even before the new dsmr I refused to buy counterfeit receivers. The new sport dsmr receivers are the size of the original 3100 dsm2's for half the price.

The nizn's are great, no lipo mod needed. Even before the, been running orion aa's for years with no problems.

Add a capacitor and trouble free running of power hungry digital servos.

The reason receiver prices are dropping is because the clones show just how much these things really cost. Sure the original ones are better quality, but the clones are pretty good also. When rx prices were stupid, that is when I went with the clones. I used the Blue clone, and did really well with the DX3S. So why don't people call the Hobby King products clones??? Sure, none of their stuff looks like Tekin, red color, and called Gen2, really, LOL!

Thanks. I got the dx4r grips and they are nearly the same and fit perfectly (only the retention tabs are a little shorter), and half the price of the "big grip". With the thicker grip, the trigger geometry is corrected.

I thought I was having glitching issues, but the car battery went dead on me. I am still running 6.6 volts 3 weeks later on my radio, thanks NIZN batteries. Be careful on Ebay, some jerks are trying to charge like $166 dollars for a set of batteries and a charger. The real price is around $23. One seller is showing $20.42 for both.

I was wondering the same thing. I have seen 8 volts in a DX3R. I would try that in a cheaper version. I wonder what voltage Spektrum uses in the battery pack for a DX3R?

Hey all,

I've decided to give these LiFe batteries a shot. I'm going to take the battery tray out and rewire it so these 4 cells are 2S2P which will give me 2400mah at 6.6 volts. I'll try to take detailed pics as I haven't seen anything posted anywhere yet as to how this radio comes apart.

All Radios I know have a circuit that shunts the voltage back down whatever the radio was designed for IE 6.6V This is specifically for fluctuations in the voltage when the pack is fully charged it might top out at 7.0 volts.
So IMO its useless to apply higher voltage than what it was designed for and in theory may burn up the circuit if it cant shunt the voltage it receives.
Also if you do decide to use the higher voltage batteries the voltage will stay at the higher voltage longer as it discharges that may be a good thing
