Hey all,
I've decided to give these LiFe batteries a shot. I'm going to take the battery tray out and rewire it so these 4 cells are 2S2P which will give me 2400mah at 6.6 volts. I'll try to take detailed pics as I haven't seen anything posted anywhere yet as to how this radio comes apart.

I have been running LiFe cells for a few years now in my DX3r and now my dx4r pro radios with no issues. I find the trick is to balance charge them. I'm still on my original ones. I also used them in my nitro vehicles for receiver packs. I just bought a holder from radio shack to put them in.
In the radio I use two dummy cells to keep the voltage to 6.6 volts, when they get to 6.1 volts i swap them out. for the 2 dollars they cost its a cost effective solution.
Any questions feel free to ask

Anyone buy a DX4R and decide to go back to their DX3S/R ?
I recently purchased a new DX4R coming from a DX3S (which I was happy with), but wanted all the nice features (frame rate, back light display & antennea) included in the DX4R. I have a few complaints with the DX4R the small grip is larger than I prefer, it seems heavier than the DX3S and I prefer the trigger on the DX3s, but I thought I could adjust. After this last race weekend I may bail on the DX4R as I had issues with one of my 4 vehicles (short course mod truck) getting interference and had one of my worst outings in recent memory in all classes. I never had an issue with the DX3S and went from fairly good results (top 3) to struggling ever since I made the change. I am going to convert back to the DX3S for this next weekend and see how it goes, just hate to have invested in a new radio and additional receivers (SR2000's) only to end up dumping them

.Side by side the C & S the C is physically bigger even though it's got the small side screen.
Also the older model S work with the orangRx receivers, not sure about the new ones with the avc already in?
Never had a issue with glitching, I ran glitch busters as a safeguard but when I started to run viper I dropped them cz viper got a high BEC

I have found the DX4S to be the most comfortable out of the C,S,R range. Both the C & R seam to have thick grips as their smallest size we're the S fits perfect.

I'm only having interference issues with one of my receivers, but still just haven't been as comfortable since changing radios. Maybe it's related to other issues, but I'm going to swap back to the DX3S for a couple weekends and see if things improve...

the driver next to me even noticed the interference I had on track
following the rebind. I think it must be related to the receiver though as the other two vehicles didn't have an interference issue.

Sorry about your bad luck. I was having a lot of issues with the Dx4R pro and the SR2000 until I went to the NIZN. The SR400 seems to be better, maybe the extra size helps. I think the small size was pushing the envelope of performance.

I may try swaping out a SR2000 I have in my Stock Buggy with my 4X4 SC Mod Truck to see if the problem follows the receiver or is vehicle specific. Part of me thinks I should change back to my DX3S to see if I can notice an improvement in my driving due to the better ergonomics of that controller for Me? But I'm still tempted to give the DX4R one more try and to get used to it, but also bring the DX3S along in case things don't work out too.

Tonight I swapped my SR2000 receivers in my 4x4 Mod (gave me issues last time out) with one in my stock buggy. Well the buggy took off and slammed into the wall (lucky nothing broke) on the main straight and the steering was all over the place while driving it. After this I figured it I could safely single out that particular receiver as being bad so I then decided to change over 3 of my cars to SR3500 receivers and ran them with my DX3S controller. I felt much more comfortable with the DX3S in my hand, the trigger felt way better and my driving was more consistent.
While I'm happy to have made this realization, I'm also a bit miffed that I invested in the DX4R and a handful of SR2000 receivers to find out they don't suit me or my driving
.
If it ain't broke don't fix it

So just that one SR2000 receiver didn't work for you, but other SR2000 receivers works fine?
The DX4R does have better security signal encoding over the older models the way it is set up. However you could always call Horizon to start the warranty process to get that receiver replaced if that is the issue. (It sounds a wiring or antenna inside the receiver could be loose as soldered on the circuit board from the factory giving it intermittent signal connection, rather than having do with the radio itself or receiver type)
Hope it works out! Let us know. The DX4R is a very good radio trusted and used by TLR pros to win several major events. They would not be using it if it had issues It is capable of working very well. You may just need to get that receiver replaced and give it another try.

As a last ditch effort for this radio I'll probably try installing a DX3S or DX4C trigger on my DX4R to see if it improves my comfort level enough where I might be able to use it. The current adjustable trigger and larger handle don't seem to suit me well.
