This might be a little OT but it does involve an unusual use for an SC10 4x4 FT. I've converted mine to a 2wd by removing the front drive axles in order to run it in an SC Mod class on a dirt oval near me. They relaxed the rule that says rear motor only to help build the class. If I get too good then I'll be out. Based on my driving skill I don't expect that to be a problem.

Having a ball running it. My last use for the truck was on asphalt oval with 8th scale wheels and tires so have had to do some setup changing to adapt to the dirt. Running JConcepts Barcodes on the dirt. Motor is a Castle 3800 with a MMax Pro that I had figured would be way too much power but so far I've found it controllable.

It has a Center Diff that I just left it in until last week when a screw came loose inside the gear housing and locked up the drive system. Took the screw out but could never get the drive to lock up again so stuck the slipper in it and all was well. Got the MC2 toe in back. Front sway bar disconnected and softening up the shock oil were the main suspension changes.

The SC Mod world is fun but from what I can see it's typically only open to SC10 2wd. Not sure why except maybe to keep the cost down and make it more entry level.

This is probably the closest I will get to running Off Road although there is an Off Road track right next to the DO that has been peaking my interest.

shark I believe is using both the M2C toe block and the STRC rear hubs on his sc10 4x4 conversion.

I'm in-between buying an sc10 4x4 or an sc10.2. If I get the 4c4 will I be ok in regards of a new one being released soon? I know no one knows for sure just looking for opinions

I think a lot of it will depend on if AE continues on with the platform or releases something similar to what Losi and Tekno offer, a 1/8 scaled based vehicle. I know awhile go when I inquired with someone at AE in the higher levels he mentioned that maybe they would keep both types around, the sc10 4x4 and a new "outdoor" style vehicle.

But again, that was awhile ago.

Personally with RC if having the latest and greatest was a concern of mine, I would buy used. that way if something new does come out, the loss you would take due to it being an older model is lessened versus buying something brand new. And with the deals on sc10 4x4s out there now used, I probably would give that a look for sure if that is what interests you.

AE has some internal trumoil going on! They really need to step up the entire line and quick. Only truly competetive kit they have now is the B5. They always comeback swinging but Losi has jumped waaaaay out there with their new line of kits. a deep hole has been dug.....

I am looking for help with a setup for a outdoor dirt track. I've searched this thread and read a lot about the after market parts to help this platform. As of now I don't have the center diff or toe block. I have the spring and say bar kits. I have raced the truck twice. Its not bad, but could use more rear grip. The other problem I have, there a big triple and the truck wants to go over backwards. Should I be using stick or saddle pack? I do like how nimble the truck is. Thanks for the help.

kryptonite for this truck is outdoor, low grip and big jumps! i designed the center dif and 2 stage pistons for these conditions because those are the type of tracks we have in houston! without those mods you are going to have a difficult time keeping up with the latest generation of SC trucks. On the RCShox thread i have a pretty good basic setup for loose outdoor but without the center dif you will need to go up to 30k for the front dif. To help with jumping you need to install front springs in the rear, exotek chassis, and add weight to the front of the truck next to the servo. The lack of rear grip is simply because there is no center dif and with so much power the truck is always spinning the tires.

Yes the c diff is a must and a shorty pack up front works well front springs in the rear and mip pistons. I just spanked the losi boys last week

i just installed the strc aluminum bellcrank on my 4x4 but the bolts keep coming loose. what are you guys doing to prevent this?

I just got an sc10 4x4 factory team. I need a 4 pole sensored motor for it, wanting something with the 5mm shaft on it. I would like to stay around the $50 to $60 range if possible, is there anything you guys would recommend? I've always done the 2 wheel drive stuff and this is my first 4 wheel drive so not for sure what I need. Thanks

Go for a used tekin 4000 or 4600 and put new bb in that the only thing that fall unless u run it in a 1/8 then it over temp for shere

Hmm, that price range you will be looking at used for sure as mentioned above.

Tekins 540s used are a great option.

If you want more power give the Hobbywing 3656SD motor a look. its more like a 545 can but has a lot of power. the 4000Kv version is what I run in my Tekno SCT410 and its great.

Looking on AE's website, looks like the SC10 4x4 Factory Team has been discontinued. Curious to see what comes out now for 4x4 SCT.
