Team Associated B4.2 Thread
Lol, it's less of a challenge when you're running stock. Being able to tune, and get around the track with more motor than you need is a much better measure of "skill" in my opinion.
The constant search for the fastest "stock" motor kinda blows your justification for running stock right out of the water.

I know this is off topic and been ranted on over and over, but racing at my local track this weekend, many of the 17.5 guys run their buggies and SCT trucks in with the mod classes just for fun and half of the 17.5 field can place well in the A or B main of mod.
The 17.5 class is way to fast and half the guys running 17.5 really should move up to mod. There is little to no class for the intermediate drivers and it is killing our hobby!
I watched 2 newer drivers in 17.5 stock that are decent newer drives. They are way to fast for the rooking or novice class but get lapped way to many times by the guys in 17.5 stock buggy. They would have to just pull over 3-4 times per lap to let one of the fast guys drive by because of the vast difference in skill level.
There really is no point to these classes any longer unless they were to develop newer drivers, we may as well just go back to one open class per chassis.
Sorry... Rant over!

so this weekend we had a medium sized event at our track sponsored by RCInsider, and the rumor mill was full with hints that a couple Team Associated drivers might have a B5 on hand and testing in disguise which got me to thinking, I am very new to the RC world and even newer to buggy racing, i have B4.2 currently, but does anyone think that the new B5 might be kinda what happened with the BJ4 and associated just by the design from Centro? Centro has already done alot of the leg work for the mid motor, so if associated/ Centro worked on a similar chassis design but just made for a rear motor you would have your two chassis that everyone is speculating will be offered and associated would have had only half the work to do? oh an no, there was no B5 to be seen.
I run my D3.5 in mod stadium truck, timed and I boost the crap out of it. It is one of the fastest motors in mod, along guys that are running 8.5 and lower. Luckily our track is more technical so top speed doesn't matter. For my particular track. I think it is one of the only motors right now that can compete in both mod and blinky. Sure March 1 it goes illegal when the D4 hits but then you just run mod with it until it burns up.

whether stock or mod is harder is kind of irrelevant at a club level. The harder one is going to be were all the good guys decide to go. For example my home tracks don't even have a stock buggy class, only stock sct. Which this year was for all the new guys with slashes.
if both have equal skill then the statement is valid in a perfect comparision its true it was an example to help get my point across ... you cant argue that the 5.5 isnt slower than the 10.5 its an example thats what i meant by it
