Thanks RCM - I got differing opinions on what gauge to use but i think generally people came out on either 10 or 12 but no smaller than 12 - i bought some 12 ga as well (Deans Wet Noodle) and i am probably going to use that in the car and 10ga for making longer (2ft) charging leads to charge batteries - thanks!

What would be good starting points in gearing for the following motors...

1800kv
2100kv

Medium to medium/large indoor diry/clay tracks.

16, maybe 15 for the 2100. Just go by feel, if it feels like you are driving around the track full throttle then you are too low on the pinion size.

FYI

I know its a 1.0, but it works real well, and if you wanted to upgrade the rear, you would have a great buggy with hop ups.

I really like 15t indoor and 16t outdoor for my 1900. But could run 16 indoors and have at times. 16t never really winds out, the 15t feels good on 1900 indoor. 16T is perfect outdoor.

I bet 15 indoor would be a great starting point. You should have gotten a 16 in the kit that would be good if you ever run outdoor. If you haven't bought any yet you could probably run the 16T and check temps. I bet it will be fine. Mine never gets to hot with either the 15 or 16. usually 120ish range after 10 min main.

I am not a on/off switch type driver like many 1/8th guys i see however, and i dial my brakes to match track conditions so i don't lock my wheels at full brake. so if you have an aggressive throttle style ymmv.

So noone has had tight fit lipo?

I know the Carbon battery straps have a little more clearance. Either mine or Serpents.

Curious why you got such high capacity lipos? Are you running 20 min mains? I've never had a problem running 10 min mains with 5600's and a 2050 motor, and still wasn't close to LVC. And wow, you're adding a LOT of weight to the buggy with those packs. No problems with making a pull-tab for the packs with thin strapping tape, I've done it with tight-fitting 5600's.

Im stationed over seas in Korea. Outdoor tracks are very rare and any indoor track is small. I got them to maximize my free time outside at a training site in between charges of the 5800. As far as i know im the only person that has any RC anything where im stationed as far as Soldiers. IM spending this time to work on my car and do some inprovements until i get back. I have a local friend who is into rc alot, he has been involved for 10 years. He has no idea where an outdoor track even is. But the strapping tape is a good idea, never thought of that. Thank you

I once had to run a 15 min main with my Serpent E-truggy. Ran 6600 packs with a tekin 2000 truggy motor and made time easily. Spanked a bunch of nitro truggies that made up most of the main.

I use gens ace, and nano techs. 5300-5600 gens ace slightly snug from slight swelling. They work fine tho. Nano tachs fall in. I can get 10 minutes easy.

will batteries measuring 47 x 25 x 138 mm fit?

have you thought about running a buggy motor in your truggy if you do ive got a setting you might want to try and I can get over 20 min run time with it uesding a 6500 4s if you want

Yes they will fit, I have pro match 6500 same size fit fine.
