Thanks for all your guy's help, in my search for a new charger. Anyone using that pretty Trakpower charger/power supply? I know its not a PL 6 but is it something to consider?

Thumbs down

That thing is a joke.
On one port, you can charge at 20 amps.
On the other port, 6 amp maximum, ya, tell me about it

I have 2 of them and they're great! This combination has worked great for our raceday setup. I looked at the PL6 & an Icharger prior to buying this combination and just didn't think the parallel board setup was going to work for us. But as Mark said, it's 20a on one side (full features) and 6a on the other (limited features).

For about the same price you can get a pl6. Once you get used to parallel charging it is easy.

Yup, 100 for the trakpower power supply,
200 for the trakpower charger.
$175 for a Powerlab 6.

Is the Powerlab 6 AC/DC, or DC only?

You can't parallel charge 2s & 4s packs together or lipo & life packs together so in certain situations the PL6 and parallel charging will work great...just not in our situation.

While it is not so easy on tha packs, you can still charge 2s and 4s lipo serially.

I had something similar happen to me this weekend as well. I run the 4600 shorty packs in my 22SCT, the first time it happened I just thought I didn't charge the pack, then in the next heat my truck started slowing on the last lap of a 5 minute qualifier and died not long after I finished. I charged the pack and it only took 1700 mah so I knew it wasn't the pack. What I found is that my bullet plug(I use the solid ones) was a little wore and although it felt tight I replaced the bullet plug and never had any more issues. Just a thought on something to try.

Grasschopper is correct you should be balance charging at 1c at the very least, but since I have the same charger you do I know it will only do 6 amps so you are kind of stuck with that like me. I am currently trying to find a different charger that will do at least 10 amps, I sure would like one of those PL6's though.
Inboards. I have a set of balance leads and running leads for each. The running bullets are tight and show nominal wear. I checked voltage this morning and the "gave it up too early" race loser was at 3.79 and 3.82. Been charging @6A for almost 3 hours now... reads 4.19/4.20 and loaded 4900mah. I don't get it.

The PL6 comment lead to an all nighter on chargers and PS. I think I could do those, and a couple of the HP 1200s. Trying to wrap my head around the MPA setup as I run both 2s (SMC) and 4s (TP), and usually have 4 ports going on any given race day.

I would send Danny an email and explain to him everything you have told us here. Go to the smc webpage and the contact us will go straight to him. Danny might have some idea of what happened or is happening. He does alot of research and testing on lipo's and may have some better insight.
Like I said my bullets felt like they were tight but my issue went away after I changed them.
If you email him tell him I sent you from here, he will get back to you and probably ask more questions.

I am trying to understand this parralel charging thing. do you have to start all the packs at once or can you hook more up as you go. I have zero experience charging like that, I run a hitec x4 right now but it only charges at 6 amps, I want to get something that will charge at a higher rate like the pl6 but even at 2c I would not get all the packs(mine and my kids) charged up in time for the next race.

Look at the 308 Duo then. Dual channels and will do parallel charging like the PL6. I'm actually thinking of getting one and selling my PL6.
