I went very budget but it works great:

iCharger 106B and the 220W power supply. I have a SCTE 2.0 with 4 SMC 6500 70C 2S batteries.

When I am practicing it takes about 15mins to go through a battery. I immediately put it on the charger and grab another fresh one. It takes about 20mins to charge a depleted battery on Lipo Fast charge. I can literally be there all day, stopping only to grab a drink, put the depleted battery on the charger and change the battery in the truck and never be without a full battery.

When I use the Lipo Balance charge function it takes about 30 mins to charge it completely...but I do that at home when time is not an issue.

It's a great charger if you don't have more than 2 electric vehicles out there on the same day.

I just picked up a 8 2.0E and a couple of 4S 6500 70C batteries to give to my son for Xmas. I may have to grab a larger power supply if I need to charge those babies quickly but for people who don't have a multiple electric vehicles the 106B and 220w works great at a low price point. Better than ANY all in one deal.

Yeah, which is why I have 4 batteries. When done with a battery, it goes to the "cooling" area. Then it goes to "charging". Then to the "ready to run" area

I never actually run all day I was just remarking if you needed to, the cheap iCharger combo does the trick on 2S batteries. No idea on larger batteries though.

I usually run a couple of batteries through it, fix something on the truck, run a battery, tighten some screws and fix stuff...rinse and repeat. After 2-3 hours we're done anyway...or need tires and are done...or break something important and are done.

This is the shorty vs the 5100/4s

The 5100 is the same size as the new 5050/4s

Since it is.....Do you think it would be wise to go PL6/600 watt combo? I'll only be charging 2S and probably only at 2C most of the time....or am I overkill with this?

Nice set-up by the way...
600 watts will work fine. The hp per supply I use is only 575 and it has enough to charge 2s batteries at 40 amps. You only need 24 volts for higher voltage batteries.

The hp server power supplies are one 20 dollars on eBay if you are interested. They work great.

Thanks WIGMAN. New to Lipo and had originally heard that 1C was the limit. But have seen some saying 4C or 5C. That sounded awful high. I've got a TP610C so 10 Amps is the limit and it sounds like that should be just about right. I have no illusions about running with the big boys. Just want a decent ride without having to buy new packs every 2 weeks.

Quick question...does SMC offer discounted pricing for established RC dealers?

Not likely. That's part of thier main selling point. Keeping prices low by selling straight to customer to cut out the middleman.

I'm curious to hear if this is true. I asked my local shop his price on a 4s lipo battery and he said it was $130. The specs on the battery weren't quite as good as the SMC battery at $89.

If a dealer could get them at $65-70 on quantity pricing, they'd have a superior product, be able to sell at $89 and make a small profit. They wouldn't sell another $130 battery, that's for sure.

Email Danny direct on this. Pretty sure he's wholesaling batteries under the RC King brand name.
