SMC LIPO BATTERY THREAD

Well you have a new customer for life, only took 2 days to get my batteries here.
The two factory spec 5100 batteries I got are the best batteries I have ever used. They really held a good punch all the way until cutoff. My old packs would lose all of their punch close to cut off.
They only came off at 106, when the ambient temp was 90ish. I cannot express how happy I'm with these batteries. Thank you SMC.

Check out the Info & Tips section on our site there is good info about how to set your cutoff.

New batch of 4S will be ready around the first week of August.
We will never do a 4S-7200 as it's illegal to ship Lipos above 100Wh as regular shipping. Shipping under class 9 hazmat would be very expensive. The 6500-4S is at 96.2Wh. A 7200 would be 106.56Wh.

No, I'm not saying that, traction isn't really the issue it's finding tires that will last. I just waisted $90 on xo-1 tires and the grp's are $42 for four and have been proven in the speed run community to exceed 140+mph so I ordered some. I am interested in some foams but the grp's should easily take me to my current goal of 100mph. Later I might do 8s on a xl2 to hit higher speeds. Baby steps for me, I'm new to this. I'd like to see the foam tires and wheels though. Maybe I'll pick some up.

I've been doing extended testing of a pre-release pack of the 6500 4s (sorry to SMC for not providing status more often...but the status would be boring "nothing changed, still works great"). I've been running 10 and 12 minute mains with it and never had issues, winning many races and some race series with it. It probably has about 75-80 cycles on the pack now, and still at the same low IR and high capacity as when I got it. It is usually charged at 1c, but sometimes at 2c to make the second double A main with the same pack (I let it cool a little before charging it back up). But that's not what this post is for.
I want to say thanks to SMC for having a quality pack...not just in performance, which has been great, but also in construction. I've seen many other budget packs come apart, crack, etc. My SMC 4s got a good case test yesterday after a blown out jump sent my eBuggy upside down and backwards landing from about 20 ft in the air. The car was fine except that the chassis flex managed to turn my center drive shaft into a rainbow. Once I was flipped over (right before the straight), I hit it and it sounded like a machine gun...the shaft was repeatedly smacking the side of the SMC battery case. We didn't know it, thought it was the body (which was partially off), so the marshal fixed the body and away I went, but it was horrible still so I went to the next, who thought he fixed it too, and then I just pulled over, thinking I must've moved the motor and killed a spur gear or something. The SMC pack just has some rub/scratch marks on it where it was getting hit. Great job!
