theres no reason to wait, this is the new car right now, everybody has been waiting and here it is... a new platform and a midmotor one at that. a new car with a totally different driving style.! if you were to die tomorrow your tombstone would read
"he never even got to try the new AE platform..." live in the now
IMO the Centro was a band aid not the full intent AE had to get in the MM car. I am sure are hard at work getting a true AE MM solution. Just my opinion

I can guarantee you that when Associated releases their next 2WD Buggy it WILL NOT have an accompanying box that dawn's branding that isn't Associated. It will indeed be a complete kit that is either Rear or Mid motor capable, Rear motor only AND possibly a purpose built Mid motor kit as a separate offering, though I highly doubt Associated would produce a kit that doesn't offer the option for either configuration considering most of their competitors' kits do offer the option. What would be even better is to produce individual MM and RM vehicles that carry identical price points but are also sold as a set at a slightly discounted price as opposed to buying separate.

If I had the capital I'd design a MM kit from the ground up in a whole new way that would likely change how MM is looked at altogether.
Weather ae created this chassis or not.... This is the new car all the pros are running and everyone is jazzed about. No denying this I the hot 2w buggy at this moment. I'm sure something else will come out in the future just like it always has and always will. But this is what we get now..

Agreed they are told what to drive and promote from Associated. Usually they are told to drive the current projects for testing, etc. With them not driving the B4.2 full production kit tells me they are moving on. If the Pro's were driving the B4.2 because Associated told them too, I would think differently of Centro.

goin2dirt hit the nail on the head. This is the bandaid to help keep sales rolling and to appease all the AE faithful who've been wanting to jump on the MM bandwagon with an AE car, but it is not an official Associated kit.

This is no different than when Honda bought the rights to slap their badge on the Isuzu Rodeo and calling it a honda. It was a way for Honda to find their way into the ever so popular SUV class without having to spend billions in R&D and engineering to develop their own. Instead, they formed a strategic partnership with Isuzu to produce what was essentially the exact same vehicle with added touches from Honda to create the perception that it was an all-new offering. And while Honda did put their $0.02 into it in the way of improving and refining the engine and drivetrain to meet their level of excellence, the vehicle was essentially a means to ensure their faithful customers didn't defect to other brands until they designed their very own SUV which became the Pilot.

The Centro is nothing more than Associated's Honda Passport.

Yep, don't see a Centro RTR in the future . either.

At least it is a good Band-Aid for now.

Give us a few months to get bored before we start crying again for something new. They never will make us happy .

Team Associated B4.2 Thread-b4.2.jpg

I am submitting a photo of my almost-finished B4.2 as a memorial to all of those B4.2's who have fallen to the Centro conversion.........................long live the B4!!!

Seriously, the Centro looks great.......but I'm not racing right now and I won't spend any more $$ on this platform until the next gen car arrives, whenever that may be. In the meantime my B4.2 will be busy racing my kids and wife's cars and I will begin the RC10 Classic pictured in the background (had to sneak it in there somehow). I recently tried the 22 2.0 and sold it last week - nice car (superb fit and finish), but it's not an RC10!!

I have really been on the fence about getting the C4.2........ I am confused how in just a couple months the philosophy went to Mid motor is only good for high traction such as sugar tracks, carpet tracks etc. to now mid motor is the best all around car????? I enjoy tinkering with setups and stuff so I have been really tempted to try the C4.2, however on the flip side I see signs that AE is on the verge of a new kit and don't want to put to money on something when there is something new on the horizon. My thought process:

1: I have found no other distributor selling the C4.2 kit other than Amain and AE direct. It seems odd if AE was wanting to really push the kit that it would only be at Amain.
2: The B4.2 is in the sale section on the Associated site, which usually means the vehicle is on the way out.
3: On the homepage of team Associated page the section where it shows newest kits the B4.2 has been removed the past few days and replaced with the 44.2, which is actually an older car than the 4.2
4: The 4.2 was just reduced in price on Amain.
Seems like there is a lot of things pointing to something new..... anyone else riding the fence?

Im thinking about a centro just because my home track is a carpet outdoor track. And rear motor is just terrible out there no matter what.

Not sold on mm on dirt as one of the guys I race with had a x factory car. My local indoor is too small for a mid motor to shine in corner speed because its alot of hairpins on this current layout.

Granted on a bigger track were you can carry alot more speed through the corners I think a mid motor would be awesome espically for stock!

those that are hinting at the possibility of a chassis from ae.... should jump on the centro. honestly from someone who runs at one of so cals premier tracks (ocrc) I have not seen, heard, smelled anything other than a Centro being ran by the factory guys since August! Having talked to the 4wd world champ who is driving a standard issue centro I would be extremely surprised to see a new 2wd from the ae camp for at least another 6 months. He had all kinds of things to say about mods that were ran on the b44.2 for the worlds though!

tungsten carbide balls, no need to sand just build and break in. I use a drill to break in my diffs. my has been smooth for 6 months now. about to rebuild them soon tho
