I have a first release EB48.
Just picked up (2) new TKR6008 for a shock rebuild and noticed that there is a new group of two molded pieces on the tree.
The parts are:
---- upper shock bushing (2)
---- internal o-ring spacer (2)
---- internal o-ring spacer (2)
---- shock piston (2)
---- bottom piece of cartridge assembly (longer, redesigned)
---- UNKNOWN (2)
Unless the questioned pieces are an updated upper shock mount bushing, I'd like to know what the piece is.
Note: the URL above is the 'old' TKR6008.
Thanks
The new pieces are shock shaft guides that replace one of the original guides (what you have listed as internal o-ring spacer), specifically, the one that you install first. It only works with the newer shock bodies that have an enlarged hole where the shaft passes through. Just like the new bottom guide it's longer, providing more shaft support and less shaft deflection.

Crap. I just ordered the new parts tree assuming it would work with the first gen shocks. Will the new lower guide still work with the older shocks?

The parts tree includes the older parts for 100% compatibility with older shock bodies. The new bottom guide is 100% compatible with all shocks. You're good .

Are you asking if the 8x1.3 Tekno pistons come a tree like that picture you have? If so, no they are not attached to a parts tree, they come in a bag and are white.

Use the Tekno pistons, they fit better and are cone shaped like the stock pistons so they will rebound faster than they compress (assuming you install them with the open side up). They are machined so they are not one a parts tree like molded parts are.

So with the new very bottom shaft guide spacer, you can only use them with the updated lower shock bottoms(plastic)? Will the new plastic spacer fit the gen 1 aluminum shock bottoms?

Only the shaft guide is new/updated. Shock caps are the same. Either cap fits (plastic/aluminum).

My EB48.2 will be coming in early (today) from Tower Hobbies, they're still in stock in case you're looking/waiting.
