I would say if you're having some handling/grip issues and have some track time, give it a try... what is there to loose?

Both on and off subject... I grabbed a half dozen pairs of avidrc.com (awesome bearings) of wheels from there and will beat them up a bit and see how they do. I will report back when I have some luck (or failures).
I have used the avid sabertooth wheels on this truck. They're a little flexy, but overall a good wheel and don't rub. I really like how they look and have had no issues.

I just mounted up a set on the sabertooths and they are rather flexible but hopefully they work well. I do wish all manufactures would stop putting holes in the wheel since it just lets dirt and water in, AKA wins there. If the Avids work well I will probably use them because they are the cheapest option I am aware of and they are really light and they do look good.

This is a personal concern only related to my experience but I have had Dozens (and I mean dozens, I absolutely love the look of the Trinidad.) warp and deform into it being impossible to tune camber and toe into my truck. I actually put STOCK AE wheels on my Car to adjust toe before putting my Trinidads/Borrego's back on.

If anyone's not understanding. I'll set the car down, measure camber. (-1) then roll the car 6 inches and check camber again and it can be anywhere between +1 and -3 depending on how bad the wheel is. I also promise this is not my bearings or my car itself. I use any other wheels and it's true every roll I test.

Again: I use tons of DE products and enjoy them. I just prepare myself for the warped rims when I purchase them. JC rims, Avid Rims (especially), and Proline Rims i've never had such a huge warping issue. Avid rims are great rims. May feel soft, but they are super enforced with that webbing bringing everything back true. =)

Got my Trinity sting packs today, 290$ bill for 2 batteries is ouchy! I am sure they are exceptional though.

Also swapped out to a new chassis too.
I used both Sheets in a Jconcept pack of chassis Protectors for a long time. Never cut through into my chassis. 3 months later, it was still perfect jet black.

(then I got lazy and used nothing... I regret it!)

Are you kidding? He won't be able to resist competing with a "proper" vehicle.

Side note...

I popped in the new rear angled diff case for like $14.00...awesome upgrade. The rear center dog bone is the only part I've replaced on this car while owning it - the only part. It was marginal, I could have went longer.

This cheap upgrade will enhance that longevity even further. It's already to the point that I almost just feed it batteries and tires.

After race night, I dis-engage the motor and remove the shocks. I check for drive train freeness (bad bearings), and make sure all suspension assemblies are free. Make sure no screws are loose.

Into the bag it goes....best kit I've ever owned - period. If Tekno is willing to trickle out new parts that make the ride even better? Not a single complaint from me.

I have tried the chassis protectors and have always found them to be a pain, but hey, use shat you like.

I cycled my sting pack 2 times from 3.7v to 4.2v, then did a 10amp discharge to 3.2v and a 12amp charge and put in 6500~6600mah. The IR is also a little lower than my Fantom packs.... Can't wit to see how they rip going down the straight!

I just got a new SCT410
I have a ripper 2,000kv motor and hobbywing 200amp esc setup from a 1/8 monster truck. It uses 4S battery. Will this system work okay in this truck?

Should work pretty well, would just be an issue if you wanted to race as they normally limit to 2s batteries at which point the motor would be too slow.

You have tried the Borego? I'm surprised that you didn't think the Borego was stiffer than the Trinidad.
I use a Hudy setup station so it wasn't an issue for setup, but yeah, the trinidads were all over the place and there's no way you could eye ball camber.
See the difference in these pics, tons more webbing and seems like it has to be different plastic used... to me at least.

Aka all the way. They are the only rims that I have not warped or flat out cracked....

Put a square of electrical tape over the hole. Keeps stuff out and doesnt affect balance very much if at all.

I do here. Its nice to have similar parts, though, if you are wanting to really get full on parts compatability, maybe do a conversion of the SCT410 to buggy specs then you will share hubs, a-arms, etc. To me at least, if I did it again I probably would do that.

I just trash canned all my DE Borrego rims...had one break the center section out during the main. After closer inspection of all the other rims the "mounting wall" was very thin. Switched to JC hazards and AkA rims never looked back...$.02

God please don't tell me this, I just spent close to a 1k bucks on wheels and tires all mounted on Borrego rims, I'm still gluing em up actually down to 2 sets left. It seemed to me that these wheels were built very well stiff with lots of webbing?
