hey stabone, those aren't stupid questions, better safe than sorry. inexperience does not equal stupid. so how did you like building your first kit? i found it satisfying and quite addictive...20 builds later,lol..might have to go to an intervention meeting soon...
Finally got this thing out onto the track. My impressions...Freaking dialed in when compared to my SC10 4x4 that I worked extensively on trying to get it to be the truck it was supposed to be.
It was on the indoor clay track at norcal, the new layout is by far the best layout yet! Super fun. Setup is box stock with a few changes, green front pink rear with tekno 1.3x8 pistons. Could it be better? Probably but it was good enough that I didnt mess with it because I was having too much fun (never had that problem with the SC10 4x4).

I really like pink R and green F as well but am still using the stock pistons with
35wt R and 40wt front and it feels really planted .....
Anyone running an MMP SCT edition with the 2400kv motor? Just seeing what you might be geared at. I just ordered the motor/ESC combo and figured it'd be nice for bashing and decent enough to throw on the track for fun-runs.
Hoping to get the SCT410 kit by this wednesday so I can build it for some weekend fun. Hopefully I speed through the build process!

I had that combo in my scte a year ago and i loved it. Much more than any 2s motor i've tried. Has a ton of torque, runs cool, and has great runtimes. I'd even go so far to say i like that combo on 3s better than my current hobbywing 4000Kv srtup on 2s. If your club doesn't care what batteries you run, that combo is a heck of a deal.
the MMP can be a workhorse ESC, its just when using it with 2S lipos and the really powerful motors its BEC can have issues keeping up.
With Castle's know-how, they could really make a killer ESC if they wanted to for this segment.
One thing I noticed on my practice session last weekend on an extremely loose, dusty track when dry, and medium traction when wet (to give you an idea, guys were saying a "hot" tire were badlands lol) I was really liking the Diff fluid in the rear at 2K, with maybe a switch to 7K middle. (7K - 5K - 2K I was using).
Based on what I saw with my droop settings and sway bars, I avoided the diff whip issue as everything remained planted in the turns. I was even able to use a 3.5 degree toe in setting on the rear and still have sufficient traction when slightly moist. If fully dry though, more toe was needed. But I was very happy with how it performed.
Maybe the conditions I am running on are not ideal for thicker rear diff fluid settings people are seeing.
If anyone can comment on what I am experiencing, I'll post my full setup if that would help. I am also using this diff fluid setting on my EB48 with similar results, very fast.

I also tested out the durability on the arms, full speed down the back straight and I got a little wide hopped the pipe and smashed straight into a steel beam that is part of the warehouse. I hit so hard that the swaybar came out of its end link and ended up under the axle somehow. The arm has a big divot in it where it hit but it is still straight and I ran 3 more packs through it without any issue. Very impressed, that could have ended my day but it held up just fine even after I did it a second time! Luckily that was the end of that and I just ran a bunch of super consistent laps working through traffic for the rest of the afternoon.
If you want good solid budget stuff with good performance, get the HW stuff.
If you want top not warranty support with good performance, get the Tekin stuff.
Castle is...lacking, and the ESCs (especially the MMP) just don't cut it for longevity once you're pushing around this much weight and pulling this many amps to do it. The 3800 4pole is pretty bulletproof from Castle though, as long as you have the 5mm shaft version. I used to run that in some older stuff. It didn't really compare with the Tekin Pro4 in power though, and all of the others (HobbyWing, Tenshock, and the Tekin Pro4 HD) are even more powerful than the Pro4 was.
Does Tekno sell a complete differential assembly for SCT410? Id like to grab a spare f/r diff and spare center diff to use for tuning/spares. I see they have complete diffs listed for the EB48 but Im not seeing any for the SCT410.
They are the same unless I am missing something. The truggy ones are different because the pinion/ring ratio is different but I am 99% sure the buggy and SCT versions are the same.
I haven't read forward form here yet to say if somebody has mentioned this already, but.

Its not like we are gonna catch him no matter what he is driving. And yes, having his setup help is my main motivator. Really interested to see where he takes the setup.
Finally got to try out the SRAMOS setup tonight--definitely loving it!!
If you like stiff/responsive/nimble this is the setup for you!!! I would consider his setup more on the "aggressive side" (I think the trend as of late is to go lighter springs lighter fluids--see about 50 pages back) but this really worked well for our driving style. Also-we alternate between this and an XB4 buggy--when switching between the 2 platforms the gap between the feel is much closer now than what it used to be.
Thanks SRAMOS!!!

On the other hand...his setup help would be nice to have
