I'm feeling you bud. I really liked my SC10 4x4 and put a lot of time and money into it. I pretty much run on 1/8 scale tracks with various traction levels from one heat to the next. The truck always handled most of the track great but always had a spot or two that it struggled on no matter what I did to it. I've only raced my Tekno once but it definitely has loads of potential. The two trucks couldn't be any more different in how they do things. Took my SC10 to a swap meet at one of the nearby tracks (my truck is in absolute pristine condition). Couldn't "give" it away. Decided to give her another shot since I replaced my RX8/Pro4 in my Tekno for a Viper VTX8/Hobbywing 4700 so the Tekin combo will go right back in. Waiting on my receiver and Spektrum 6040 servo to get here this week and she'll be ready to race again. Will no doubt be ordering RC Shox c-diff asap. I have no interest in having a di## measuring contest between the 2 trucks. I just look forward to running them both. Hope to see you get your hands on one again. You're definitely an asset to anyone who has one and needs suggestions.

The whole lightweight shorty up front setup interests me a lot with the truck. Push comes to shove, my daughters could drive the truck.

They Tekno for me was easier to drive fast, but, the Sc10 4x4 I could drive fast. Definitely fast steering for sure.

I just wish AE would do more with it.

Ran my truck for the first time and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It performed very well, on a semi slick clay indoor track , dry. A little tuning and I think it will be there.

Question, adding pins to the rc shox center diff does that make it drive off the front end more?

Going to big 8th Scale track, loose and loamy so I need to do some tuning on the truck for this track.

Looser the track, the less pins. loose and loomy should be 4 pins. If the track is known to increase grip as the day goes along just start off with 5.

I miss my SC104x4 very much as well. But the reality of it is: I'm faster with my Tekno, and I was one of the original SC104x4 owners doing the hot new stuff hours after invention, or figured it out myself and posted for all. Still was a slower truck than my Tekno.

Now: Present day with the lowered servo, finished product of the +8mm camberlink and the lightened Shorty? I'm super super interested in having another truck to play with. But my Good news in the mail has solidified that as not being a possibility. Bottom line is. 1,500 posts (posted here alone), hate, love, hate, and some more love later... I still love and miss my AE 4x4.

But I'm only looking back in nostalgia. Not regret. =)

I got 5 in now, thats what i had on the clay track. Seemed pretty good, just was wondering what happens when i put more in. Next time i go to the clay track, i will put 8 in, and see what the difference is.

More pins, the more it drives off the rear tires? so the more the chance it has to step out on acceleration? On the clay track it was fine, felt it was really pulling with the front end. So that make since i guess.

Yes the more pins you add is just like adding heavier center dif fluid. the more pins=more rear drive. On a high bite track you can run 6-8 with no problem all 10 if the track is like velcro! even with 10 the pins the dif acts centrifugally so it actually gets tighter as you accelerate!

For some reason this thread seems so much more peacefull, cant put my finger on why..........

Since I decided to stick with this truck and go light I can say that it performs well in a light configuration. I am still working on basics though. I am hoping to get it dialed in for the winter series.

So far I need to go through the driveline again for my next track day. I am using the yellow springs and feel that I need to go softer now. I am running RC Shox 2-stage pistons with AE 20 wt in the rear and AE 27.5 up front and it is a little too bouncy. So I plan to test the blue springs next. They are a little lighter weight than the yellows.

I am really loving the lightweight set-up. I only use about 2500mAH in 5 minutes and have enough battery with my 4000mAH Shorty pack to run beyond 7 minutes. I will post my experience on this thread as I improve the truck.

wonder with the lighter setup if you may benefit with bigger holes in the pistons? I remember someone selling some at one time and I think he had a somewhat lighter setup. mantis can probably confirm what is better (actually, he can lol). Maybe his UFOs would be a hot ticket with the lightweight setup?
