I finally got around to weighing my updated SC10 4x4 lite with the Losi body and it came in under the ROAR minimum. So now I can add a few grams of weight to fine tune the handling.

5lbs 4.2oz

Diff grinding issue revisited........

I placed the shimms in the planet gears as recommended and it was to tight, so I removed the out put shaft and placed another sun gear shim on one side going from .2 to .4mm under the sun gear this eliminated the issue. I talked to team associated about my fix and he said it needed to be .5mm under the sun gear and they will send me the correct shimms. The old shimms were inadequate so they are puting out the .5 and sending them for free. That's why everything I have is associated, this may have been brought up a while ago, but goo info to revisit.

Wasn't worth selling for next to nothing so I put a few bucks into a servo & receiver and figured why not keep it? Of course it won't earn my Tekno a spot on the bench but I'll take it out for a heat here and there. Almost forgot how much fun it was to put a servo in this thing . Oh well. I did like the truck quite a bit so the old girl is worth holding onto.
I think i'm going to do the same thing. Thanks to some good advise I ended up putting my 1258TG in my Tekno from my SC10 2wd instead of pulling the 1256TG out of the 4x4 and I realized I still have a MMP and a receiver sitting in my parts box along with an extra tx.

I'm going to set mine up so my buddies who aren't really into racing can come out every now and then and run with me. Makes me feel like a NASCAR team owner There is also a super small dirt track opening up about 15mins from my house they normally run Friday nights so will be a great warm up race before heading out to the big outdoor tracks on Saturday.

For the record: I'm dreaming with you. =)
SCT 4x4 grew really fast in the Atlanta region. We have the Psycho Nitro and Wicked Weekend races now where it's only 4x4 SCT class as 2wd wouldn't be able to clear the huge jumps. We're kind of a big air high-power kind of bunch around here.

Its the next best thing in outdoor racing (electric), with 8th scales, or on 8th scale tracks. My B4.2 and T4 will never see an 8th scale track, to hard on them IMO. Plus there not fun to drive, to me, on rough 8th scale tracks. Plus the shear size of the tracks now days, i cant even see a 10th buggy on some tracks.

Anyway, I think some MFR's, AE, are asleep at the wheel on this class. Now that Tekno and TLR have stepped it up, then you have some other nice entries, Caster etc. AE could bring a new truck into the class and it very well could climb the ranks, and sell alot of kits.

I'll run mine, and fun, i think there a blast to drive.

My transponder is not counting. At one track loop is just before a huge double and you have to goose it hard. I can see the transponder light flicker on the car stand, must be worse under load. Everything seems fine with a novak 550 though.I do have a glitch buster but connected or not doesn't seem to make any difference. Any ideas?Servo does not seem to be glitching though
Hey man, I run that same esc in my sc10 4x4 and I really don't think it is rated for a motor that pulls such large amounts of power. Think that goes for any 4 pole motor, I run a reedy 550 4.0 and I'm having over heating issues with the esc, I'm using a 13/62 and I run it really hard (racing no bashing) I just upgraded to the hobbywing sct pro esc and xerun 4700kv 4 pole because again I don't think that esc will handle the load and that is why it is cutting out on you, the motor pulls so much not enough power can go to bec and receiver, call novak to be sure

Hey Wild Cherry I noticed you have not belt covers, doesn't that create a ton of belt and gear wear? Do you only run on blue groove tracks that have no dust?

Indoors you have no need for the covers . If you remove just the motor gear cover ? Can expect temperatures to drop 20 degrees as the motor will be able breath better .

Out doors would recommend the covers if you are running on a back yard track with 2 in of dust to plow .
Most outdoor tracks are better & groomed ,so I would not use the covers still .

Candrell has raced this summer outdoors on what most consider a typical outdoor event that has mass dust ect. He had no problems.

I have not raced outdoors for a couple years now . Use to race the big outdoor events all summer for many years , raced 1/8th & gas truck .

These days I like to stay near home and save money .
Competition at Trcr is so intense , so no need to travel when I can get beat at my local by factory drivers ....

I talked to Charlie and it is rated for 4 pole motors, he says its probably a bad solder joint or something causing a huge draw I just hope i'm not getting the run around everybody blames the others equipment. I just want to solve the problem how ever I need to. Searching around though I have even seen racers with rx8 having the same problem so I'm going to try rewiring and swapping the servo. I do use those 3.5mm bullet connectors on the motor wires does anyone know if that's a good idea??

I wouldn't use 3.5mm bullets unless they were castle brand. I've seen alot of motor problems on my buddys rigs because he insists on running cheap bullets because he's to lazy to do his own soldering. He always runs the cheap bullets and they just dont last and his motors cut out all the time but he still runs them.

You do realize that while running a reedy 4.0 550 you'll probably need to limit your run time to around 10min reguardless of gearing, esc or batteries etc.... Maybe 8min if it's really hot ambient temps to begin with. This is a good example of why I like the tekin pro4 motors so much, they weigh a lot less and deliver similar or greater performance with lower temps. This is purley based on my own experience with a bunch of different motors and esc combos. I've decided the orian r10pro 2-3 with a fan and 4pole firmware on a pro4 4000 works awesome for me for small/medium indoor. I'm no expert so results may vary.
