These would be suitable 8 hole pistons correct?

Tower Hobbies has come through big. $40 discount + free shipping that shipped today and is scheduled for arrival tomorrow :-) It will be a nice vacation indeed. Electronics come in the next day too. Gotta paint the Flotek now.

It only has had this issue on a few very extreme jumps at our outdoor track here, and another I recently traveled to. Other SCTs were struggling with the big jumps at the race I metioned I traveled to, but the air time was enough to get the nose back up with wheel speed.

My track is loose and VERY large so my temps have been right at 130-140 range. Of course I don't know if I even made it to 10 mins yet as I have just been testing with the truck. If your on a med to high bite track I can see gearing that low but on my track that would mean to many rpm over the course of a lap.
Which outdoor track did you travel to? I had some nosing issues but have seem to have solved them with the heavier springs.

Ran my Tekno a couple times and love it. I tried using the 1222 diff shims and they would not squeeze in damaged 2 of the shims and to tell you there is no slop to even suggest its even needed.

Finally got this thing out onto the track. My impressions...Freaking dialed in when compared to my SC10 4x4 that I worked extensively on trying to get it to be the truck it was supposed to be.

It was on the indoor clay track at norcal, the new layout is by far the best layout yet! Super fun. Setup is box stock with a few changes, green front pink rear with tekno 1.3x8 pistons. Could it be better? Probably but it was good enough that I didnt mess with it because I was having too much fun (never had that problem with the SC10 4x4).

JConcepts race at the Hobbyplex. Had issues with the short tabletop and the monster jump in the middle.
Testing last night did not go well, bumper makes no difference but I had to try it.
Should I try orange fronts with reds in the rear? A couple experienced racers felt the suspension last night and both said it's to soft.
Current setup is a direct copy of Matt's setup with 45 losi oil up front and 42.5 losi rear with 8x1.3 k pistons.

WOW, Orange fronts are pretty stiff (4.9) I haven't seen anyone use higher then 4.2 spring rates for the front.

So far I've only ran two setups on mine and both felt great. I first ran box stock with Kyo Orange (4.0) Front and Kyo Yellow rears (2.9) and never had any issues with it, felt planted, I ran it that way for about 4-6wks

I'm currently running the "rcgod" setup and it feels just a tad better and at the 3-4 different tracks I race at, it's been pretty well planted and handled a wide variety of traction and jumps. That setups uses HB Grey (4.1) Fronts and Losi Green (3.1) Rears springs with Losi 32.5wt Front and 30wt Rear

I agree it seems stiff but these springs feel alot softer than they should. I hate having to change this stuff for jumps especially since the truck handles so well with the softer springs. A friend has some extra losi springs I might try, so red front and green rear?

If they feel softer then they should are they used springs... like ran on other vehicles or new springs. There's a couple guys at our track that will take new springs and actually compress them overnight to break them in and run them that way and adjust oil wt accordingly.

If you or a friend already have the springs I would say try them out before buying to see if they help.

Otherwise the next setup I would suggest looking at is the Sramos one. I'm pretty close to his setup minus the Fironni pistons and rear springs he's using.

Stupid questions here. First time building a kit.
1st.
What is best way to setup pinion gear to center diff? Should it be tight as can be or loose.
2nd.
What are good settings to try out on my HW SCT pro for my first run on a track? Have a SMC 70c 7200 pack.
Thanks for all provided tips so far

For the pinion, just put a piece of computer paper in between the gears, push them together and tighten the motor mount.

For the HW, someone else might be able to help lol.

1.Push the motor all the way in until the gears are tight. Tighten the top screw until it is barely touching the mount. Pull the motor out just barely. I check the mesh by holding one finger on the pinion then using another to rock the spur back and forth. I dont want a lot of play just a tiny bit with a nice click when it hits the pinion at either side. Also, make sure you hold the motor straight when you lock down the top and bottom screw, otherwise the gears will be rather noisy.

2.I set mine like this:

Running Mode:Forward only w/brake
Drag Brake Force:0
Cut off threshold:3.2 (5)
Start Mode (Punch):Level 3 (3)
Brake Force:50% (2)
Timing:0 (0)

All other settings stock.

For gear mesh: I typically slide the pinion and spur together and then pull the motor/pinion back a little, since you want a little play between the pinion and spur. Tighten down and give a couple blips of the throttle and I go by sound. If it's too tight you'll definitely know, cause it will squeel like a pig and barely move after bliping throttle.

As for the HW I run mine with the default settings and only turn down the lipo cutoff to the lowest point possible.
