Turns out the idler gear in the rear was at fault. Guessing I had the slipper to tight....

you pop the gear free of the shaft?

if so, there are a batch of these that did this, if you bought new, you probably could get AE to send you a new one.

No, it ate the teeth right off the idler gear

sam
stripped counter gears can occur from the slipper being to tight , maybe check to make sure this is not happening ...

Idler gear is the weakest part of the transmission. I ate up a few, but I also like my slipper very tight.

Been running the slipper as loose as possible .
A tight slipper only makes the truck more difficult to drive ...

Set the slipper to slip slightly...
On power will be smoother & truck will
not saw off corners when you enter turns ....

Been using 4 slipper pads on the VTS ....
Give it a try as you will be able to use looser settings and still accelerate faster than a tight 3 pad slipper...

interesting. I'd be curious if someone could compare the performance of a garodisc equipped VTS versus the standard VTS and 4 pad setup. Since the garodiscs appear to grab more based on what those who have it report, should be interesting.

Ae yellow pad performance is hard to beat when they are new .
Does required a little maintenance & replacement more often though..

I would love to be able to use the AVID slipper pad material and wished AVID or even Ae made something for the Sc10 4x4 ..

Can't comment on the 4pad setup, but I did a comparison awhile back when I still had my sc104x4..... The garodisc were def. an improvement over the stock pads, I ran both with about 4 packs each and with the garodisc's you did not have to tighten them down as much as the ae pads in order to get the same amount of punch. And after testing you were able to see how much more glazed the AE pads had compared to the garodiscs which didn't appear to have any at all........

I may have to give the garodiscs a look on my b4.1 when I have the chance. Seems they offer the best life in comparison to any of the other pads based on what I am hearing.

If any of you guys can try that out, would be interested to see how well it works for those using Clutch basket / VTS style setups in comparison.

Sounds expensive , you could do better by purchasing the Triad from AVID .
This way you get the
best triple pad slipper design & pad material available for your B4 ....

Can't personally comment on if the garodisc material is better or not than the stock or other material pads as I have no experience with it, though, the stock and HD pads I have tried have room for improvement, probably why the clutch basket design like MTK prior to the availability of the VTS has been so valuable including the 4 pad setup you are now using?

I mean, if it wasn't an issue no need for these kind of setups, right?

The experiences of ilanstylz and others offer value insight into the quality and performance of the pads in comparison to the other ones available.

I look forward to your report on how well they work out for you rippen.

Have a buddy with those other pads , borrowed & have tested them already ...

Had the Triad for 2 months now , same pads only had to readjust after replacing gears for the gear box ....
Yes the pads still work like new after wearing out a gear box .

So after your insight & enlightenment experiment ?

Will still have to purchase a Triad for your B4 ......
