SC10 4x4 Thread
I've visited this thread many times and it seems that this kit only works well after lots of time and money.
I run at a track but don't race (TRCR). I have my SC10 and B4 set up pretty well and my SLASH 4x4 gets around without any problems after a little tuning (springs, oil and tires make a big difference). Last time I was at the track I just couldn't get over how quiet the SC10 is compared to any other 4x4 SC!
So, will this truck be a complete let down if I only do minimal tuning? Again, I run at a track, I don't race there. I don't know if I would notice adding a few millimeters of this to that and so on.
I want to build the FT kit and do the same as I have for my other kits - basic set up stuff. Oh, and no saddle packs - I have enough hard case Lipos.
Thanks.

No real need for most of those parts .....
Only aftermarket parts personally been using....
RPM arms ($10.50 each set)
Traxxas serrated wheel nuts
3 mm wider offset rims (JConcepts)
Ae Carbon C-brace
Sc4x4 class is way fun and your Sc10 will prove to be very competitive right out of the box ...
Which track are you racing at ?
Thanks for the tips WC...I figured you would submit a good response. I run at TRCR just like you. Didn't you read my post???
So no need for the FT kit? Just the standard and those upgrades sounds good to me.
>>>>> anyone know the difference in offest between the SLASH 2wd fronts (I run those at all four corners - they widen the stance of the truck a bit) and the offset for the SC10 4x4?

I recently broke the driveshaft that goes through the slipper xD (using the old slipper). It broke where the washer beetween spring and nut is. What could be the reason for breaking it and how can i prevent it next time?

Thanks.

Plus from what I can tell so far the truck is tuff as nails to. So I would say yes you can buy this truck and run it with out having to spend any more money or time running it than you would any other SC. Really though it all comes down to personal preference and driving style. On any given day any of the top brands can win a race. My prefernce just happens to be the SC10 4x4.
That said, your track conditions you race on will dictate what you see benefit to as far as aftermarket parts go. So keep that in mind.
In my opinion having owned both now, bling mainly other than the chassis brace, sway bars, and VTS slipper setup. the stock kit is actually really good in comparison and can be had really cheap too.
For those wanting to build new, if you do I would highly suggest that you DON'T be the guy who switches vehicles a lot. You will take a bath on it if you do when you go to re-sell. Just a fair warning as right now, the forums are flooded with SC10 4x4s, mainly due to people finding it easier to run the losi, or, I should say, that is what a lot of those who do the switch are saying.
The vehicle I got now off of someone who did just that was pretty much new, and I think in the end cost me about $130 when all said and done.
I just rebuilt my diffs, transmissions, belt etc, replaced the Castle 3800 which I ran for most of the summer season geared 14/62. Temps were ideal, 130-140(esc 110-120), it just seemed to lack the smoothness I was looking for. Switched to a Pro4 4000 and geared down to 12/62. Temps are running way higher, 165-170(esc 100-110). I would usually gear down to reduce temps, but I'm wondering if I may be under-geared and thats causing the high temps. Any advice would be great, thanks.
What ESC are you using?
Also, what settings on the ESC?
Where are you topping out down the longest straight?
After your rebuild, how "tight" was everything in comparison to before?

Think about it ...
Sometimes I see parts that do not work or perform where I race......
Those parts ?
Never get my endorsement...
On one of those parts that didn't work that you observed, I actually conversed with the driver and found out what the issue really was ...
You may want to speak with them again ...
<triple dots off>
Anyone driving an SC10 4x4 out in Michigan? namely this track:

BTW 8mm mod is for loose conditions NOT indoor high grip, apparently WC doesnt believe AE's head engineers explanation........
I SWEAR I just said the same thing to my self before i made that post

Doesnt really matter, his gig has been exposed by the latest traction rolling vid. We all have bad race nights, its inevitable, just unfortunate we cant see any of his good races.

I know the actual theory of raising the links, but for some reason it has the stated effect for me of reducing the traction rolling on high grip carpet, the first to do this mod was Brian Kinwald on a High Grip track.
