SC10 4x4 Thread
Anybody have problems with blowing the gears in their steering servo. I'm running a Futaba brushless B451 servo and twice now I have shredded one of the gears in it since I put it in my SC10. It works fine until I hit a tube or something with one of the front tires. I know dont hit anything dummy
. However I use to run it in my Losi SCTE and I hit everything with that truck and it never skipped a beat. The servo has all metal gears but one. Its a heavy duty nylon type gear. Thats the one that keeps getting broke. Wondering if I should try a savox servo.

Some will say they have no issues with them, some like me will say that they have had nothing but problems. I had to get an external bec... even with a rx8 esc to run it.
If you are looking to change brands, look at the XP DS1015. About $20 more than the savox. So far I love it and I have ran airtronics for years.

Haven't had issues with servo gears in a year of running this truck. How tight is your servo saver? Tighter than the manual suggests?

Maybe it has to do with my power hungry tenshock 4 pole, who knows... but I bought the savox to get in the main and couldn't drive past the 1st turn

Yeah, broke the tabs off my 10 year old airtronics 94359 at a race and they had savox or other $150+ servos. I asked if I might have issues thinking not with the rx8, the shop guy said it's hit & miss with them. Someone with a rx8 has no issues, next guy with a rx8 does.

Guess I have been lucky with the Savox. I run it on my SC10.2 4wd that has an equally power hungry Revtech 4XS 4800. I even had no problem when I used to run a Mamba Max Pro/ Tekin Pro4 4000 and Spectrum receiver and transmitter in the SC10 4x4. I know that most complaints with Savox are with that exact setup. I have since moved to Airtronics only because I like the features. Oh well we all use what works for us. Now let me knock on wood and keep my luck.
Do I expect an A-main finish, TQ, etc? nope. My skills against that level of drivers who attend such events out here will preclude that happening . But, I do expect to not have the rear step out on me in corners or do circles down the straights LOL.
I'm running a 1258tg powered by a RX8 through a spectrum sr3100 and it's never even thought of browning out.

Not sure if you are talking to me or the other guy. If its me im not insulted at all. Any information is welcome. However I do have my EPA set properly. I think my problem is that this truck needs the servo saver set on the loose side. So I am going to try that and see how it goes.
