SC10 4x4 Thread
Hey guys I need some advice for a large bumpy outdoor track. Running a rx8 with a
4000. Yesterday was my second race day. I think I was the only associated there. my truck is getting tossed around in the bumps even in the straight. The other trucks seem planted. Should I add weight or get another truck for outdoor? I would like to stick with the truck for this season. I'm running an outdoor setup from the AE site, stick pack, with AE upgrade kit.

Coyote- I really wish you'd come back to the fold. After hating the V1 diff indoors, I loved it outdoors. I put a setup on her that makes her very easy to drive. Probably the easiest car I've ever driven off-road! The only reason I haven't dominated at my track is because of me, not the truck. I run against mostly Losi's , one converted Mugen buggy, and a Durango. The Durango guy beat me this week. I just didn't have it for him. I run (announce) a majority of the race program, so my practice and setup time is severely limited.
I use Marcus's setup except I use 32.5 front, 27.5 rear oils. I build my shocks emulsion, not bladder, even though Marcus says not to.
I was ready to dump this truck, but now I almost love it.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've been racing for years but have very limited time with 4x4. I went with a SC10 because I love my 2wd, and was hoping to use my 540 based motors. Gave up on the 540 stuff after the first week with overheating problems.
I'll answer before the others come on and tell you to search lol....
If money is no issue a good list of upgrades:
RCshox 2stage pistons
Either RCshox V2 center diff or Garodisc's for the FT clutch setup (I just did the testing for these and they are great, they should be for sell pretty soon)
Buy the Front spring set and use them in the rear (most are running the front blue or white springs in the rear)
Exotek chassis, really helps lower the center of gravity and weight dist. (even though some may still argue its not worth it, but its usually those that haven't owned one).......
Run grease in the diff's isntead of diff oil (diff's are prone to leak easily), kyosho makes some good stuff.....
Nice choice on electronics, I'd def. go with the rx8 over the castle but thats just me......

Thanks for the tips. I also appreciate your concern on the "search before post" garbage everyone else spews. Problem is, I can't really search for something that i've got no idea on.
Of the few 4x4's i've looked at, i've seen numerous things that didn't look stock (chassis brace, etc).
This is why i've come here to ask, the people who do KNOW exactly what a person should buy from the get go.
I've got the RC Shox stuff in another page pending order. Anything else I should order from there besides the diff and pistons?
I plan on running a saddle pack config, so i'm assuming I should get the exotek saddle pack conversion as well?
Anyone else know of a place I can actually order the chassis right now? All the big places i've seen have them out of stock.
What other must haves are there?

I am reading a lot about the ceramic bearings offered for this truck. Are they considered a maintenance free type of bearing? Do they roll that much better? What are the upside points for putting these in? IS there a downside? Are most people just putting them in the axles or throughout? I would think the bearings in the diff's are rather well protected (understanding that I am sure no bearing is completely protected from dust).

I've been with this as long as some of the best, But I think it's getting ahead of me now. Going to relax and work on it more calmly while the Slash can go and go. Y'know?

And Beaven, I'm not going anywhere. I don't know what part you got me "mothballing" my truck. It remains my fastest truck and remains my favorite. But it's like being married to a Stripper. (think about it)
