Hello! I am a brand new member to the forums.

Question: I am about to buy a Novarossi .21 engine for my Losi 1/8 2.0. I currently have the RTR 350 engine, manifold, and tuned pipe. I am wondering if I should also purchase the manifold and tuned pipe that Nova recommends or will my current manifold and pipe work? Would I even notice a difference? They all look the same to me.

Your current pipeset will work of course but it will not be the best for pretty much any novarossi but will work

If you are on a budget i would say get plus 21-4 buggy with 9901ss pipe and 41021 header

That setup is around 325$-330$ish , it comes as standard but if you want turbo add part #28002 to your order

Lmk if you need anything

Well I finally got a chance to get out and do some testing with my new fusion x3 lightning full Monty. I did my testing on a very consistent track with dimension of about 160 x 100. I run a mugen MBX6 R (which are not known for getting great run times) He are my results and opinion on power

Previous engine was a OS .21 with a P3 plug and a AE 2035 pipe and i had GREAT power and the best i got 10:15. ( this is the best I have ever got with this engine by the way.) this engine was fully broke nun and in the "sweet spot."

Next was my Fusion X3 full Monty that has about a half of gallon on it. I have the nova 2096SS pipe and whatever plug that came in it lol. This engine was smoother than my OS but with a felt a little flat on top ( which I think is due to the fact that it's not broken in completely. I think every motor has a flat feel when they are new.) don't get me wrong it still had PLENTY of power and my laps times were the same. BUT here is the good news. I drover my car as hard as I possibly could for an entire tank and got 11:40!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say I am a VERY happy customer and thanks to Monty for all the help! I struggled at first because I was having particles getting in my carb needles and my motor would cut out. I have been racing 1/8 scale for a very long time and I learned how much crap can sneek by your stone filter in your tanks. Lesson learned! Run a good fuel filter ALL THE TIME!!!!!

A very happy Rick!

I'm about 500cc's into the break-in on my Plus4 I ordered from Monty (on top of whatever he does with the $35 break-in service). The motor still has a lot of mechanical pinch and runs very well.

I ran a few tanks on my buggy this afternoon on a small, technical track with a lot of dust on top of hard pack. No real straight-away or big air. I pulled the buggy off at 13:30 minutes with a cm of fuel left in the tank. This seems a bit long on runtime. Perhaps 95 degrees ambient, 30% humidity, and a loose track makes this normal?

Sounds about right to me I get about 12:00 on a tank and I am not afraid to grab the throttle and I am running the 7.5 venturi. I haven't run it all the way out of gas on the track but I'm sure 12:30 is possible to empty.

Monty,

Had our first outdoor race today,

The XLT ran strong, but was coming off a little on the hot side to my liking. 250-255. If I richened up the top end an hour, the mill felt fat on top. Not sure why that was, but I setteled for getting the temps right about 240 and it was solid.

Ambient air was just about 65-70 with little himidity
7mm restrictor
no. 6 plug (which I think was a little too cold for the day)
2096/021 pipe and header.
Byrons 30 Pro driver

Other than that it was rocking man. Got the TQ and win. Lots of people liked how the Truggy and engine performed throughout the day.

Breaking in check,

Just thought I'd post up a little something for ya. I know you like seeing people post up.

I'll give you a shout later. Got a funny and not so funny story from yesterday.

As a set up for the story,

Say you got a Plus 4 in a truggy and it boggs off the bottom end. Which would be a possible cause of that, tune being off, clutch shoes and/or springs too light/heavy, or both?

Monty you can sign me up for the Losi buku shoes. After seeing the standard 3 shoe performance and wear this last weekend, this will be a great addition to my Losi rigs. No more replacing shoes after every race.
