I would use the stock timing on the LRP, no advance.
2wd SCT is pretty critical on punch / slipper settings to be consistent.

Here is my Copperhead Setup from the win at the first round of the MN Off-Road Series earlier this year. I would start there. You might be able to go 14T with smooth driving, but I would start at 12T or 13T
My settings and setup:
Losi SCTE
NanoTech 6000mah 65C Batteries
13T Pinion / 40 Spur
Punch 3
Motor Timing 1
Brakes 8
Start power 6
Drag Brake 0
Cut-Off 3.0v / Per Cell

Anyways, I appreciate all the input guys! If this motor/esc work as well as I hope/advertised, I am suprized that I dont seemore people localy running it.

Maple street - thanks for the kind words. Pretty awesome turnaround. Little better than our average.
C Branch - like Dave said the AE settings are a good place to start and adjust depending on what you see in temperature and performance. There is no one magic ratio. I change pinioned in 17.5 SC more than I change anything else.

So you guys know we are in the process of opening a service/technical office in CA. Eventually all the warranty service will work through there. All the inventory and logistics of the company will still be run via Redmond, WA.

Stickers are included in the esc and motor boxes, we have some promo sheets- but I don't think they are sold-I don't remember seeing a part number.
Most of the major decal companies like Upgrade, Fastlane, etc. have our logos available. Just ask them, they don't always list on their site.
We do sell the best pit towel around!!!!

Hello viper,
I have a Copperhead 4500kv esc/motor combo.
Can you tell me if its Linear BEC or switching?
I want to get this savox servo for my losi scte, Savos 1258TG High Speed
Titanium servo
Speed @ 6.0V: 0.08 sec/60°
Torque @ 6.0V: 166 oz-in / 12 kg-cm

I heard the savox servos have bad glitching issues with linear BEC's ( like castle mamba monster esc )
Just wondering if it would require an external BEC.. or if there is a similar servo specs of another brand I should look at.

Can anyone say what happened with the VSE motors? I've searched and found that they are no longer in production, and there's potentially a new 1/8th 4-pole on the way (ETA: 2013'ish..... kidding
).
Anyway what happened to the old VSE's that they were apparently in production for like a month? Is there an issue with the motors that ceased production, or lack of sales, or manufacture issues?

Old motors were discontinued because they weren't good enough. But the new one are
and it won't be 2013, it will be a couple of months.
KTM- off the top of my head it's linear (sorry its 5am here at the airport in Vegas)- I tried like 3 different Savox in my SC10 4wd and they all worked, have to check what's in there now, but I already checked my bag.

Some ESC's / Radio combinations experience problems with glitch and brown out issues, due to the BEC not having enough amp capacity that require to run a glitch capacitor / external BEC. In my opinion this tends to get the blame pinned on the ESC, or the servo, but it usually seems to be all relating around a particular radio brand.
Fortunately we have had no reports of those issues with any of the Viper ESCs irregardless of the radio system or receiver used.
I myself have 4 cars with Viper ESCs, all have Savox 1257 or 1258 servos and no issues.

The failure came in a young company that didn't know you had to consider not everyone is a experienced racer. The motors ran well, and we have some team drivers who have run them week in and week out for over a year with no issues, it was the people that were new to R/C, or new to Brushless, that would start off with a guess on gearing and over-heat them.
Viper re-called the motors and refunded everyone's money, not because they were bad, but to make sure the customers were satisfied. Rather than point fingers / blame towards the users not being experienced enough, or just replace motors until people "were off warranty", Viper did the right thing. Give them their money back so they can go purchase what they needed.
It was a costly learning experience, but it has allowed for more time for R&D and engineering to make sure the product is not just a "racer's level" product. 1/8th electric is a class / market that is only popular in the US, and is a very small segment of that market, but Viper has committed to that market.
We are still testing, and doing the "un-thinkable" to these motors to prove them out. We've changed our testing procedures and thought process to more duplicate the whole market, not just the racers.
