Serpent 811E Buggy Thread
#1786
Option 3 comes with the buggy
Option 3 has the least amount of Ackerman, thus has the most aggressive steering. (Outside wheel does not physically turn as far, this is because on the Serpent its the inside tire/knuckle that is limiting the steering throw)
Option 1 would have the most Ackerman, thus has less aggressive steering and is better for large flowing tracks, or when you generally want to tame the steering down
Option 2 is just in the middle of the two

Personally option 1 and 2 took too much initial turn in away for my liking.

I just got word on this subject from John, the owner of http://www.clockworkracingengines.com/
These guys customer service is OUTSTANDING!
anyway he says:
You should get most steering from option 3 but going to a 2 makes it easier to drive. If you want more off power go with 2 or 1 but you will lose some on power steering.
I go by this posted info that I read a while ago...
Less ackerman will be more aggressive steering but also harder to drive
More ackerman will be less aggressive steering and easier to drive
option 1 - more ackerman
option 2 - just the right amount
option 3 - less ackerman
Pretty sure Billy Easton preferred the option 2 overall.
I run 2 myself.

If anyone want's to pick up a set of the Carbon Fiber Shock Towers SER600152 and SER600151 that I installed on my kit and then removed for the aluminum ones right away. They have never been ran and are new. Send me a PM with an offer will sell for quite a bit cheaper than anywhere online!

Welcome to the snake pit JP and Mrnizzles......great choice!
I've been giving my 811e a beating!
I even broke the rear chassis brace and wing Braces.
I discovered Serpent does make aluminum chassis braces for this car but they
Are only listed on Serpentamerica.com web site. There prices are the lowest I discovered as well but they do charge shipping, unlike Amain.
EDIT: I just spoke with John at http://www.clockworkracingengines.com/ and he is going to start stocking these aluminum chassis braces for this car.
I'm going to tear my car down And change diff fluids.
I'm running a large outdoor fast high bite track.
Should I stick with 5k-5k-3k diff fluid?
I'll post some pics later in the week when I get some new stuff installed.

I'm thinking about cutting down the receiver box so it is just a platform at the top. I have too much wire to pack in that little box. Probably would relocate the antenna also to a more horizontal so I don't have drill a hole in the body right over the receiver. Hmm, not sure what to do yet.

I would stick with 5-5-3. No need to get away from what everyone else is running in case you need other setup help. My car was really good yesterday after making some more changes to settle the car down more

Wish you could buy the mount separate, so far I have just seen it included with the side guard/battery box package for $50 bucks.

The snake is on the way should be her on Wednesday can't wait to start the build.. As for option parts I picked up the Alum. towers, the sway bar shaft and pins, webbed blatters, option #2 ankerman, blue taper pistons, and a tekin 1700kv motor. Question one what gearing should I run for the 1700kv? Question two are the serpent shock springs any good? Question three does anybody have a good setup posted yet for a tight high bite clay track???
