Tekin Rx8 Gen3 Thread
#227
So over the last few weeks I've put two new RX8 Gen 3's in my new Tekno's, one ET48.3 and one SCT410.3, plus a RX4 in my crawler. The ET has the Gen3 T8 2250kv truggy motor and the SCT has the T8 2650kv buggy motor. Crawler has the ROC 412hd 1800kv. My question is what actual difference should I notice by adjusting the frequency settings through hotwire? When I compare 2000 to 12000 the only thing I really notice on either vehicle is the motor makes much more noise on the 2000 setting. That's about all I notice. What does it actually do?

You're running a 2650 in a SCT? On what battery? That's a HUGE motor for the class.

I've got my Gen 3 RX8 in my SCT with a pro4 4300. In my buggy I'm running a HW 1900 with a HW Xerun XR8 SCT Pro. Thinking of swapping these two ESC's around as the RX8 seems better suited to 1/8. Aside from all the tuning options of the RX8, do you think this would be worth the effort.

Can the 30x30x7 fans take 7.4v? They're the only fans I can find in that slim profile. I have one connected directly to my receiver which is getting 7.4v from my ESC.

Could someone list the exact differences between the Gen2 and Gen3 T8 motor for me?
I'm asking about both buggy and truggy versions.
I couldn't find much on the website about it, a comparison table would be really handy as many sources still sell both versions brand new.
The same for the RX8 G2/G3 could be useful too although I'm just looking at the motors right now.
Thanks for any help

The Gen2 Rx8 hasn't been produced in awhile, get the Gen3 and get the current stuff.

Thanks Randy, is the old rotor prone to any problems, or should it still last a long time provided temps are monitored/managed?
When replacing the rotor can you use the G3 on G2 motor, or not the case?
I also am unsure what stack features are. Appreciate your help. I will aim for the G3, but good to know either way.
Another question - I noticed only the 1700kV and lower are rated for 5S, is it possible to run 1900kV on 5S provided gearing is lowered appropriately?
Or is there some limitation other than max temperature?

The "old" rotor was fine also. The later Gen2 motors received the Gen3 rotor as a running change. Both are swap able between the two. The stack feature while an improvement is not something 99.9% of the drivers will notice on the track so much. The efficiency is where gains are made.
You can run a 1900 on 5s, just assure you're changing the gearing, etc.

How is it with RX8 Gen2 and Gen3 BEC on 2s, is it constant 7.4v or it will go down with battery voltage as it is on mamba X?
What is lowest voltage RX8 can drive? I plan to use it with 2s LiFePo packs, which go low to 4.5v.
Do you plan to make some new motor for short course 2s class?

But will BEC go to f.e. 4v too or there is some min. voltage like 6 or 5.5v?
