I have always left my LiFe plugged in and have never had any issues, either with runtime or battery lifetime

been looking arround and wondering if the jconcepts 4PK radio case will work for the 4px? doing some adjustments to the foam, does anyone have try it? thanks

I just got this case. It fits perfectly. I think the 4PK and 4PX are the same size.

I've had my 4px since it came out in November 2014, and haven't had any issues with it until this past weekend at DNC:flaming: What a time to experience this glitching issue. I had no issues with Truggy and E-buggy all weekend, but my nitro buggy was undriveable:flaming::flaming: Had 3 bad qualifiers trying to figure out the issue.

The first qual, it seemed like a bad engine tune with no low end and a lean bog, even though my engines tend to run like tops, so I was chasing tune. I got my engine tuned the best I could on the box and on the 1/10 scale track and went out for my second qual, and it felt the same, but now I'm thinking it feels more like the fail safe kicking in or servos intermittently working. I was having throttle, brake, and steering issues. Everything worked fine up close and on the box, but the second I got on the drivers stand, the car was uncontrollable. So I went with my backup car for the third qual and same issues. All batteries were charged and working, using LiPo in the car and LiFe in the transmitter. It didn't dawn on me until after the third qual that it was a radio issue.

I was using original software with 614fs receivers. Ryan Lutz, being the awesome ambassador of RC that he is, was nice enough to update my 4px for me, and that seemed to solve the issues. I can't say for certain if it was just a software update that solved it, or if there was actually issues with interference with other radios. In any case it made for frustrating buggy quals during this year's DNC. Buggy quals was a 19 hour day with 3 seven minute quals. 19 hours for a total of about 25 minutes of runtime just to be ruined by what is supposed to be the top-of-the-line $500 Futaba radio:flaming::flaming::flaming: I heard some pro drivers were also having similar issues with their 4px.

When working properly - best feeling radio on the market. But if I ever have another radio issue, which will make it difficult to have confidence in the equipment, then this radio is worthless.

Not being rude, but if you know you are going to a big race, why wouldn't you do your software update before hand?

No adjustment necessary. Fits right in.

Had it since November and raced almost every other weekend and practiced once or twice a week at several different tracks without any issues. So for me, there was no need to change anything. Nothing was broken going into the race. It was just during my quals for nitro buggy when these gremlins popped up. It felt like the old days when we ran FM and AM radios and we had two people on the same frequency. Based on how this technology works, you should never have interference issues, but that's what it felt like. Controls just weren't smooth and it was working intermittently. I'm not even certain that it was the software update that fixed things, since I couldn't systematically change things to test things out during the race.

I had a choice to buy the 4PX or the 4PKS-R a few months ago. I figured people will have these bugs and went with the 4PKS-R for now just to be safe.

I'd give it a year and will get my 4PX. :D I run 614FS and 614FF-E's.

The problem you described is what the update was intended to fix. RF can have strange characteristics so you can get different behaviour at different locations.

What position was your antenna in when you experienced the problems ?

Antenna position has a performance impact on the signal sent to the receiver and can impact performance. There was a good post about the RF Radiation pattern emitted (polarisation) when the antenna is in the horizontal and vertical position a few pages back.

Futaba released the update to resolve issues, if your running 1.0 and are not experiencing issues bare in mind there is a known issue in your firmware build and you can expect to have an issue sometime.

Thanks for the reply. I figured this is why you had not done it before hand. Hopefully no more issues for you now.

I first had issues during the 2 minute warm up just before the qualifier started, and this was with the antenna in the horizontal position. I changed to the vertical position and still had the same issues. Just hoping I have no more issues, because I really like Futaba radios. It just sucks that this surfaced during my quals at a big race after having no issues for the first 3-4 months of having it. But I guess that's always how these things go.

I've read that the software fix was supposed to solve any issues, but as with any software and firmware updates, there seems to always be a beta phase and a phase were bugs are found. I was actually more afraid to do the update going into the race because like I said, I had no prior issues, and two if there were any issues that pop up, I wouldn't know how to revert back to the old software.

I understand your situation, I believe you cannot roll back the firmware. The 4PX will either not allow if your simply the firmware is unavailable to the public.

I find it best practice to apply the update before any major events to ensure normal operation during club meets and practice sessions.

I'm having problems with my tekin rx8 g2 with dead band I have to adjust sub trim to get my desired throttle feel. I've contacted tekin and they say I need to update my Tx which I just did but also need to go to bls mode and turn it off. However I'm not finding a bls mode. I know the 4pk had a bls mode is there another mode that they're talking about? I've done all the adjustments I can on the ESC through the hotwire.
