However, the trade off is the encoding/decoding process takes some amount of time to process and therefore may not be as fast as the FHSS-based schemes.

The term "secure" in This context isn't really a matter of us being worried about someone on the sidelines using a Receiver to gain a competitive advantage on the competition... Right?

Please confirm.

That's what I said before ... the FHSS system is faster and more secure FASST system.

For me it is not competitive advantage, simply that gives me more safely R614FS and FASST.
I had the 4PK, 4PKS, and now I have the 4PKS-R and 4PX ... and i do not feel the speed difference. Personally, the most important thing about speed are the servos, which use the S9353HV.

A bit off topic from the discussion above.... But where do you guys get a case for this radio ? Been trying to get a case for it but most are out of stock or from sites overseas that looks sketchy...

Any shops here in the US has 'em ?

Fasst is comparatively old technology, the 4px has C2 Fasst backwards compatibility mainly because a lot of people will be coming from the 4pk series. I switched everything to the R304 rx's heck, got $70ea for my 614's and then bought the 304's for $55-$60 ea new, so made a bit on it too!

The FASST system is as old as the FHSS, except that the FASST is a technology invented by Futaba, so the only use them (Futaba Advanced Spread Spectrum Technology).

I did the opposite, I'm using all my R614FS, and leave the radio box R304SB (not sure if it works because I've never taken). In Futaba FHSS system carry their economic radios. Luckily this 4PX gives you the possibility to use the three systems (T-FHSS, FHSS, FASST)

Have been going through this forum and reading some reports of glitches with the 4px radio. Last night I experienced my first glitches with the radio. My electric buggy stalled mid race, no power for about 2-4 seconds, then came alive again and operated normal for the rest of that race . The following race, going through a turn, my buggy powered to full throttle without my input for about 1 second. So it pretty much ran away on me mid race. After that it ran normal again. Using the standard issue R304SB receiver, and it's antenna is not contacting any metal or carbon fibre.
I see a few guys report the same issue.
Has anyone rectified this problem?
I have not done the software update yet. Has anyone updated the software and it fixed the issue?

Cheers,
SS

Guillermito,

Whoops; that was my mistake. I should have said Life. I went back and edited that post to say Life.

To be more specific, this is the battery that I've been using from the start:

After one day of club racing with two cars, the battery was significantly depleted (a total of 4 heat races and 2 mains).

It must be s bad batch bc I have used this battery for the last 2.5 years in my 4pks and now my 4px. Never an issue

No, I'm not saying that the battery is bad. I'm just saying it seemed to use quite a bit of charge from the battery (more than I expected).

I'm sure I will be able to use it for a long time.

I use the Protek receiver batteries as well (Lipo, though), and they work great (they are the only Lipo receiver batteries I've ever used, and I have like 4-5 of them).

I'm sure I'll get the same great performance from this Protek 6.6v LiFe battery that I have enjoyed for the last couple of years with the Protek 7.2v Lipo receiver batteries. :D

I remember reading some place that tge LiFe packs show full performance after 4 cycles or so. If your charger supports cycling, this might help you reach this goal sooner without necessarily requiring the use of the TX during the first few cycle charges.

Two pages back in this very thread.

I use a pelican 1450 case with the pull-n-pluck foam. In my opinion the case is better quality than any of the metal ones that come specifically for the radio. And if you ever get another radio just get a new foam insert and pull the foam to fit.

Well my 4PX took a dump today. It started beeping from a alarm that doesnt show up on the screen. The Protec battery is fully charged. The car(associated B5M) has throttle but no steering. Turning the wheel does nothing, but moving the trims turns the wheels.

I am using the newest firmware 1.1E. Just turning on the radio results in a annoying alarm that cant be turned off. Sucks, I just got to the track for racing tonight and now my new radio is not working.

I noticed that turning the wheel results in the graph moving on the screen, it's just not transmitting the signal to the car. Bummer, wonder how long Futaba will take to fix it.

Check for Dual Rate settings. I suspect someone played with that setup and has the defaul setting at 0% so turning the wheel is showing no response. However, the trims still work for you.

This is the most likely issue from what you conveyed. If this is the case, it sounds like the radio is fine and doing what it was setup to do - even if by mistake.

If you can't get it by disabling DR, try resetting the model or try a new model memory so that you can later go back and review the settings to see what you did before you got out on track.

RumbleBeeAL 01-17-2015 04:35 PM

Also, you may want to change the alarm interval to something other than zero (0) which will do nothing but annoy you more when already frustrated. Try setting it to 15 or even 30 seconds.

Check to verify if the correct model was selected. Is this nitro or electric?

RumbleBeeAL 01-17-2015 04:38 PM

Weather was nice out today so I went and tuned my MBX7R and MBX7T rigs at a lack park.

No range or glitchy get issues at all.

Using two of the stock Telemetry RX.

Thanks! Dual rates fixed it. The switch was stuck in the negative direction, which is why the alarm was going nuts soon as I turned the radio on. I was able to free it loose by lightly tapping on it. I am going to take it apart and see why I have a switch problem. Hopefully just a burr on the plastic, but I hope nothing major. Man I was bummed, the radio is only a week old. Thanks for your help, I owe you one.:D
