Futaba 4PX

Decompress/unzip the file you download and copy the FUTABA folder and its contents to the root of the microSD card.
With power off on 4PX, carefully insert microSD card completely with label side facing upward.
While pressing END button, power the 4PX on, then release the END button.
If you still cannot get it to work, verify the format type is correct, the card is not too large in capacity, and that you extracted or unzipped the files before copying them to the microSD card so that there is a FUTABA folder present in the root of the MicroSD card's file structure.
I had an existing 8GB microSD card with SD card adaptor that I used without issue. I fact it had other folders present and still worked.
If using MS Windows on PCI, try reformatting the card and make sure it is FAT32. You can reformat it after this process if required. If you have a digital camera or similar device, try using the format feature within that device and then copy the uncompressed FUTABA folder and contents to that card.
Note, Futaba posted a 2minute video on their Facebook page showing the process.

I received mine about a week ago and proceeded with the update without issue.
The firmware in your new transmitter is likely down rev and FUTABA would recommend upgrading it. Some owners have expressed concerns post update to which the specific details are vague and little to no response from Futaba regarding a solution to those concerns. The firmware does not appear to add any user interface enhancements. So the decision is yours.
If an issue is indeed identified, I'd imagine Futaba engineers will make attempts to resolve it.
- Welcome!

lol just messing with youtruth is that there is a problem, and that's the reason why most of the Team Drivers had opted to run their 4PK instead, now about this firmware upgrade, well I can certainly tell you that my problems started after the fact I upgraded soooo, not saying that the firmware is the problem, because I know of people who had this problem with the original software, but there is a problem, what bothers me the most is that Futaba Techs act like there is none, even to the point of stating, that they haven't heard from the "field of any issues", well I believe Ryan Lutz must have said something, cause as i posted before, he did acknowledge that he had issues.... How wide spread is the issue, well maybe not big enough for Futaba to say there is one, and on the the other hand Futaba is well known for rarely accepting they have one ( IE overheating receivers), I guess only time will tell, in the mean time, the people that do have a problem are left with troubleshooting it on their own.
I have been a loyal Futaba supporter ever since my 3pk-3pks-4pk-4pksr-4px, now I have a bad taste in my mouth and seriously considering jumping ship.....

I'd imagine some quality assurance testing was done to prove the new software/firmware before releasing it. If this was minimal on their part, they should have allowed the provision to downgrade. The statement of "Improves wireless communication quality." is a bit vague and could have been a bit more detailed to help us make a decision to move forward or not. The flip side to that coin is no company likes to hang "dirty laundry" out on the clothes line so-to-speak.
The reported issues may have something to do with earlier versions of hardware. It might be good to post up S/Ns and begin comparing that with those who report issues before and/or after upgrades. These data points may help identify and build a stronger case to gain more leverage with Futaba that an issue is present and may deal more with hardware than software alone.

Mine was one of the first batch from Tower Hobbies and has been perfect on several different old and new FHSS receivers, I don't have any FAAST receivers so cannot comment on those.
I have not upgraded and have no intention of upgrading on the current information. I am still extremely happy with the px and it has got more comments from other racers than I expected as to its looks and feel when others have tried it.
A few national level drivers did comment that early units seemed to have issues when they saw them being used a few months ago but all good now from what I hear.

I used mine for the first time. It worked fine for 3 battery packs. I pulled into pitlane and pulled up behind another driver, he was using a 4PK. No steering, just throttle. Interesting. My first thought was that my servo horn had fallen off. No, it was still attached. Back to the pit bench. I played with it, turning the power off/on, both on ESC and the control and checked the wiring. Still nothing. I looked up and noticed that Jarrod was about to turn off his 4PK. I looked back down at mine and it was working again. Coincidence!!! I had 3 other glitches and two of them in the identical spot on the track.
Note: I didn't have the antenna turned around. I keep forget to do this.

Format microSD Card (~16GB max) as FAT32 (note NTFS or other is not supported).
Decompress/unzip the file you download and copy the FUTABA folder and its contents to the root of the microSD card.
With power off on 4PX, carefully insert microSD card completely with label side facing upward.
While pressing END button, power the 4PX on, then release the END button.

Pretty sure I had some glitching issues this weekend with my 4PX with the original firmware. In the e-buggy heats and main every now and then when I applied just a bit of throttle the car would go full throttle for a split second. This was at a "big" race where the heats/mains were packed with 12 cars each. This was the first time having issues. Previous three club races with the same car, motor, esc had no issues. In the other class I ran with only 5 or so drivers, no issues all weekend.
In fairness I didn't think to turn the antenna vertical. In the 3rd e-buggy main I did turn it vertical and didn't notice a glitch. Coincidence or not I do not know. Still not to confident in it though as I wouldn't think the antenna being turned vertical should affect the 4PX not dealing well with other radio signals.
I'll flash the latest firmware this week.
