Thank you for posting about these; just ordered one for myself. I have been wanting something to distinguish my radio from all the other 4PXs on the post tech tables, and I think most skins just make the radio look cheap. This is perfect!

If anyone wants a seriously top notch case to protect their 4PX, check this out: Futaba Metal Case 4PX

Got mine a few weeks ago (had it on pre-order for a while) and I simply couldn't be happier with the looks, quality, and functionality. The latches alone are a work of art.

Yep, I have that case for my 4px, as you say, well made and a quality piece.

No problem, it's to cool to keep it for myself :D.
It will take a while to recieve the handle. I think it took almost 1,5 months from ordering to production and than it needs to be shipped from Hong Kong. But it's well worth it.
Install it with 3*10mm screws (regular ones) with an L-shape alien wrench 2mm. It is a bit of a hassle but good to do. I didn't put to much force on it because the LCD screen is right on top of it.

I have that case from the beginning, it is a nice looking case and protects the transmitter quite good. Also a lot of space to store the extra plastic bits that you recieved, a spare reciever, a spare battery...

I'm all set now, I have the transmitter, 2 recievers (should buy a 3rd one for VRC :p), 2 life batteries, screenprotector, alu case and small alu lever.
I've already used it for longer periods (30-45 minutes) and doesn't feel any pain in my wrist. I switched from sanwa M11X to M12 in the past because of pain in my wrist with longer races. So the 4PX is fully approved.

Nice! I have Futaba's red hardcase for my 4PKS-R and noticed that each time I place or remove my radio from the case, the foam rubs and polishes the transmitter housing making the surface shiny.

Do you have that issue? I know I am kind of picky, but was hoping that my radio stayed the nice matte finish. :D

I don't see any signs of this yet, but I've only had the case a few weeks for a total of 3 race days... which means I've only taken it in and out of the case about a dozen times, so probably not enough time to really say yet. I will definitely keep an eye on this though.

I noticed this happening on my 4PKS-R after no more than 3-4 times, so Futaba may have changed the texture on the housing, or using different material on the 4PX. Regardless, good to hear its not happening to your new radio. :D

how necessary is the update from 1.1 to 1.2? I just received mine yesterday. Also, did amain ever have the 4px foams in stock?

Not sure if it is necessary to upgrade, I believe the upgrade is related to improved connection between the controller and receiver. So I would upgrade, -in fact I already did. It is very easy to upgrade the controller ...took me all of 10mins total. Just follow the instructions on how to go about it.

Foams??? I am curious ...what are these "Foams" you speak of?

eR1c 06-19-2015 10:17 AM

By the way, I brought a few of my cars out for practice yesterday ...one of them still has my older receiver which connects to my ancient Futaba 2pl. ...going from my 4px to the 2pl is night and day. I can not believe I was using that 2pl for so long. The response is so sloooooow, the steering is vague and the feel in my hand is painful. I was questioning spending so much on the 4px and really didn't understand how one controller could be better than another. Wow, I am convinced!

1.1 update was for connection

1.2 is for:
1. Dual rate setting affects not only a steering channel but also a steering 2 channel

2. Position of the throttle trigger to start a timer is changed to 50

3. The grip vibrator is activated at not only an alarm time but also a navi alarm time

4. Repeating trim operation is temporally stopped when a value assigned the trim reach zero position

I have not done the 1.2 as I haven't dealt with any of those issues and 1.1 works perfect for me

ive been on the fence for a new radio for some time now, been happy with my 3pmx and frsky tfr4 receivers (i know their c1, but they run straight 2s with no regulators for my nitro truggy/buggies) i wanted to get a 4px, but the receivers are just too expensive to outfit all my cars, so i settled on a 4pks super r, havent gotten it yet but i had to bite..good deal.... on a fluke i saw an ebay ad for a knockoff fasst reciever like the frsky, but this one has c2.... so i googled the brand and found this!!...

http://orangerx.com/tag/surface/

just to kick myself again, c2 is basically hrs mode, correct?

Dials above the grip

Can someone tell me if this Tx has two dials above the grip like the 4pksr, a steering dual rate and atl dial? If so can someone explain what the atl dial does exactly? If it's a dual rate for throttle what does that do for electronic cars with esc's? Asked in the 4pksr thread but can't get any answers.

The two buttons right above the grip are digital trims for throttle and brake. I run 10th scale electric and it will dial down power to throttle and brakes.
