Be sure to use the storage function to store in the mid 7.5-7.8 volt area, not higher and not lower. My Team Powers batteries typically take 40amps discharge then charge when I run spec classes. 10a for mod.

newbie in electric.

I bought a new Promatch 2s 4600mah 90c constant 180c burst LIPO battery.

I also bought an iCharger 308Duo because I heard it was a good charger and wanted to know what is the best charge current, charge mode, and discharging rate for my Lipo batt.

I will be racing 1/10 stock electric buggy and was wondering what charging and discharging rate should I be at to get optimum performance

Get a discharge resistor bank, 40amps discharge (to warm them) and 40amps to charge seems to be the common numbers thrown around the tracks lately. I personally haven't seen a fire, but it seems likely if you do this constantly.

That's a cool stand you have for your charger. Who makes your charger cables?

He does them himself.

Like said I make them.. at work that is.. lol.. I work in electronics so I have access to very expensive machines lol.. this ain't your make it at home kinda thing. Straight up from work using really good stuff no banana or bird cage plugs that over time will flatten down and they are very high resitance.. as you can see my cable is designed for the right side.. I don't make unversal style I like to go full detail lol..

Yes sir now only if I can fork out about 5k for a soldering station we have at work for my home then I'll be happy lol.. yeah as you can tell by my wiring and stuff I'm spoiled at work with nice tools to make really nice cables plus i specialist in making harnesses and cpu boards at work so why not make the best rc cable lol..

Your cables are pretty cool what do you charge to make them? I would be interested in pricing for 1s 4 millimeter plugs and possibly a Deans connector setup for 1s also. If you can post here or send me a pm. Thanks.

Got one of these to replace my Blackfabrique resistor. Slightly larger footprint but looks stealth.

I just ordered the v1 orange version that most have. Then I saw this v2 version. Is there any performance difference? I noticed the leads look nice, it's all black, bigger foot print and only one fan, and costs $20-$25 more.

Default 40 amp discharge resistor bank

I just ordered the 40amo discharger resistor bank, and I have some Qs.

Is it typical to have to up the discharge volts on the 406 duo when doing regenerative discharging? I think stock setting is 12 volts, but it sounds like several people have had to up that number to get higher doscharging - is that OK and common?

If I'm running three 5 min heats and a 6 minute main with about 45-60 minutes between each race. Is it ok to 40 amp discharge and charge for each race or should I only do that for one or two races? Is it really bad or fine to hard charge each race? Using a new Orion Ultra Carbon pro shorty 4500.

it all depends on the resistor you get. one using 1ohm resistors will discharge your packs at 40 amps, @8.4 volts on the resistor. With 5x 5ohm resistors, your need some thing like 16v to the resistor. That setting is a "max". I would leave it at 12v and see where your discharge max is. then adjust accordingly. increase the voltage until you see , 40amp load on the battery.

I wont get into the good/bad.

But the idea is to "cycle" the pack and have the charge finish right before your race is up. so you need to figure out how long it takes to discharger @40, then charge at 40amp and be ready to race. Keep in mind the discharge is not from a full change. You will discharge from whatever voltage you came off the track before. so, lets say 7.9v. and you will discharge down to say 3.5v / cell. The lower you go, the more heat you build. Obviously, 6v is too low.... the "heat" lowers the IR and brings on the power.

There shouldn't be any performance difference except for the details Wildcat mentioned. the only advantage is see is the fan; if it should ever fail, most electronics shops will carry similar spec'd fans. The typical four fan resistor banks can be quite fragile and if they failed, the user would have to unbond the thermal epoxy risking damaging the whole unit itself. I did see the R1 resistor bank and while not too attractive, works great. After seeing it, i really don't have buyers remorse on the TMR V2.

So on race day with say 4 races is it typical to discharge and charge at max 40amps for every race?

I've been discharging at 10amps and charging at 30amps, but once I get my resistor I'm not sure if I should max out for every heat and main or just maybe the last heat and the main?
