Hello guys

Just brought myself a 406 to use for charging/discharging 2s race packs.

My question is I need some help with making a resistor bank for discharging across channels. I want to achieve roughly 35 amp discharge so I understand I will need 300w discharge power.

I'm not clued up when it comes to resistors etc and from scrolling through the pages night after night it's become a bit of a mind blower!! 😖. So I have been looking at 1Ohm 100w power resistors as there cheap, how many will I need and how to wire them is my question???

I have a large heatsink to attach them to and plan to use a heavy duty fan for cooling.

Thanks

5 of them should be fine.

Wire them parallel, like this.

4 will give you 40a of discharge on a 2S pack.

4 won't last long. You will be surprised to know how many people are walking around with these things and half of the resistors are blown, and they don't know it.

I was thinking of building one with 8-10. more heat dissipation.

As long as you have a proper heat sink, high quality heat sink epoxy, a good fan, and dont buy cheap resistors 4 is plenty strictly from a ohms law/capacity standpoint. Eliminate any of those and all bets are off. I was building them for awhile as a side project and selling them locally and learned the hard way about cheap resistors, ended up replacing more than half of them.

you can change the resistance on each resistor to tune for what you want.

Just started using mine and now need new wires. Looking for options, I know Motiv and TQ make some but there's a few wires posted in pictures shown. Are those custom made or available somewhere?
