Thank you Randy and Jim for chiming in on this. Great to see Tekin adding new features and can sympathize with "scope creep" on projects. Better to get something out and tested in the wild (even if its just on a subset of your products) to see how things shake out.
I look forward to the full app with, hopefully, full support for Gen1 ESC's as well. It's hard to replace some of your products when they just keep on ticking! |

The Tekin Hotwire App will work with gen1 products  The Tekin Hotwire App would also work with Apple devices and Windows phones if they would let us.
We could have made the Android app only work on a new Gen2 version of the Hotwire and Gen2 products. Instead we decided to let it work everywhere, with everything, so everyone could enjoy it immediately. We have always improved our products along the way and offered free software updates to our loyal customers to add features and performance. Not many products have stayed competitive for as many years as our gen1 products have. Unfortunately we did not complete the work to make it work with the Gen1 products in time for the release deadline we had set. We have released a Beta version to see how it goes with all the different devices and versions of the Android operating systems while we finish up the rest of the features and compatibility. We have already seen our worst fear come true in that it works on 4.1 and does not work on the newer 4.2 and 4.3 versions that have been released. Just like the Apple issue it is out of our control and the rumors are that future versions of the Android operating system will fix the issues. Hang with us and we will work it out as we go. That is the difference being part of the Tekin family and just buying electronics. We are always moving forward and try to give you the most value for your hard earned money. Jim Campbell President Tekin, Inc. Keep the great products and wonderful support coming. |

WOW , some on here sound like some school yard kids, you have thousand dollar RC vehicles with rims tires, engines, trailers that are 20ft long with flat screen TVs in them, I have seen some stupid setups, and all I hear now is F'u Tekin I am going back to Orion, switching my stuff tonight....haha you will be back esp when you are able to do all your vehicles with it. They never said it was NOT coming geeez, just not available right now. and "I don’t want to tote around my lap top" OMG RC racers tote more crap than they need to races already, 100 pairs of tires and you can only run 4 at a time....lol stuff like that. People need to relax and stop acting like whinny kids. SMH lol

Once again, just further affirmation as to why I have supported Tekin for almost 30 years. There are very few companies in the industry who's personnel take the time to respond to their loyal customers much less the President of the company.
Will keep my fingers crossed for iOS compatibility in the future. One question I have, is can a Bluetooth module like the SP one enable host control over Bluetooth? It would essentially just connect to the Sensor port just like the Hotwire and would receive input from the App via BT instead of the cable. |
I just ordered 2 otg cables from @bay for $1.44 before I figured out there is a different otg for the galaxy s4...best buy only has the s4 cable online for less than $6.00....I guess my point is be sure to get the otg specific to your device

Insert foot in mouth now knucklehead. You assume I am a young kid on mom and dads payroll? You are a damn fool. Try a 39 year old father, husband, and rc enthusiast since 1986. Have you ever raced a gold pan RC10 when it was new? I did. I have been playing with rc cars since. Not exactly spending mom and dads money anymore.

1st of all I would like to say tekin is the best electronics product IMO, and with basically factory support to the common racer. TEKIN is so easy to contact with a Q its like having a personal phone number, we get so much more bang for our dollars that we should all recognize that.
That said my android galaxy note 3 disables the hotwire. Screen says version 4.2\4.3 have disabled the hotwire. Sniffle sniffle...... |

And you're arguing and complaining like a 12 year old.
End it, or take it to PM's, we do not want to read your debate. Randy, and Jim, that is some very good news. I can't wait to get everything up and running so I can use it with my RS G2 Spec. |

Guys what we've found is that a lot of cables say "OTG" but may not be wired properly inside. Some are a generic USB adapter so make sure to test it out with other USB devices like a jump/thumb driver, etc.
In regard to the AOS 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4(on some devices) we're watching carefully for updates. For whatever reason Android/Google stripped out some OTG structure that allows the Hotwire to work. There are a lof new security "features" since 4.2 most we have sorted but the missing structure isn't something we can fix on our end. Rumor is that a future update will correct the issue as many other developer along with us are not happy. Trust me guys I have an S4, Nexus, 2 Samsung Tablets all with varying software on them to test with. I too want to see my S4 rocking 4.3 or 4.4 with the app. But the missing structure isn't something we can fix. It would be like windows missing some of well...windows! lol This App will be treated the same as any other Tekin product. We plan to support it, guide it along as it gets better with time, and enjoy it with our customers. |
