Will this update fix any problem with the receivers the radio come with? I hear ppl saying one of the receivers like to glitch when the radio battery level is low or the receiver pack is low.

Also any instruction on how to do the update? Do I download the update to a USB drive or straight to the radio? Sorry for the questions I don't wanna mess my radio up.

There is instructions on the spektrum site. I believe you download the update to a sd card and then insert the card into the radio for the update.

What is AVC? and why would I want to use it?
It appears that this is the new feature in the update and I don't want to have to reprogram all my cars, if it is a feature that I will never use.

Thanks,
tim

also, upgrade-rc now is offering skins for this radio, if you have been looking for one.

Plus, you have to buy new receivers to use these functions.

So unless your going to buy the new receiver there no point on upgrading the firmware. I though this was going to fix othe bugs the radios might have.

Has anyone experienced any problems?

Mine has worked flawlessly ... What problem is the update supposed to fix ?

Is the diff between 11.1 and 5.5 framerate noticeable. Just got a 4s and thinking of exchanging it for the 4r. Hard to justify the 100 dollar diff for adjustable spring tension and some graph menus

I've had both. It's worth the difference in my opinion. I prefer the grip, the drop down wheel, the asignable thumb toggle triggers are awosome for making adjustments without stopping. I feel there's a reaction difference in the 5.5 vs the 11ms, but thats just a feeling... but I think the difference is more than just that.

I'm still programming mine but so far I do like the overall feel of the tx better the 4s was just a 4ch version of my 3s with a sparse few new tricks up its sleeve. The menu structure on the 4 r is def easier to navigate I will test drive tomorrow and see if I notice the frame rate difference I will test with my 3s first and then the 4

I pulled the S2000 rx's from my cars until I get my new 1.6 volt batteries in. I think going to 1.6 volt per battery, instead of 1.2 volts, will help a lot. I really wish there was a way to add another cell, so I could easily use 1.2 volt batteries. The batteries are the NIZN that just came out. I picked up 8 and a charger. The manufacturer claims you need there charger, of course you do?

Ok raining too hard here for a full driving test but here's my impression
Of the 4r so far
Feel of the radio is much better than my 3s or 4s
Adjustable wheel and trigger tension helps my hands be more stable and makes fine steering inputs easier and more consistant
Menu structure is easier to navigate while still being familiar from earlier software.
Scroll wheel operation is much improved from previous models.
Overall better built more solid quality feel to the casing and grip
Radio is very good for the money at 330.00 lots of good features for quite a bit less than similar futabas

The downs
Manual is not very clear and lacks in-depth info about use of more complicated functions and compatible receivers specifically which rec will handle the 5.5 frame rate.
Comes with two rec but only the s2000 is available with the 5.5 rate
