Ok so I've made up my mind and I plan on purchasing this radio in a few months once I get the money saved up for it and another SR2000 receiver. Has anybody had issues using this radio with Savox servos and Tekin escs? Also, I plan on giving this thing a custom paint job. Does anyone have any tips on how to disassemble the radio and make sure it goes back the same way? I plan on taking lots of pics during the process.

Not sure if this has been asked/answered. Anyone update their DX4R firmware/Raceware yet ? I see v1.3 came out in March. Wondered if its worth bothering ? any issues ?

The generic rx's work great with this radio, the Blue version. You can get 10 for $100 shipped. I just installed the NIZN batteries, and voltage is 6.6 right now!! Will race tomorrow, and let you know how it goes. This radio is stupid fast at 6.6 volts. You cannot use a std charger for these, as most only do 1.2 volts, and these are 1.6.

Anyone know if theres more options for grips other then the 2 that comes with?
Im on the smallest grip and its still to thick. Compared to the DX4S its like trying to hold a tree. |
I'm looking into these as I want the left hand conversion and I currently have a Vaterra Halix with the AVC and two other cars that have Spektrum receivers. A bit of a weird question, but how would this radio work using it one handed, i.e., steering with your thumb? I have limited use in my left arm/hand which is why I want the wheel on the left side so I can steer with my right thumb.

I bought a charger for it. I paid $25.20 shipped for 4 batteries and a charger, and it got here rather quickly from China. I also bought four extra batteries for $8.33 shipped. I promised an update on these after using them at the track. I used them straight out of the package and they showed 6.6 volts. After racing all night, they dropped to 6.5 volts, unreal!! Then I fully charged a set of four and they are reading 7.1 volts. The difference between these and nimh are night and day, as far as the radio works, everything is faster. That should be expected going from 5.5 to 7.1 volts. This is a must upgrade, unless you modify it to accept a lipo pack, which is cheaper and better yet, at 8 volts.

mobilev is the seller on ebay. I do not know how to modify it other than grinding out the battery bay for a fit. This should have a removable battery bay for the lipo. The lipo's are only $8 for 8 volts, that last forever. I have heard of radios going a month on these in the DX3R. I have also gone back to the SR2000 rx now that I am using these batteries, and no problems, very nice. I don't know why, but the rx's seemed to have to adjust to the stronger signal, due to the higher voltage, weird, or it just seemed to act that way, don't know for sure.

The manufacturer of these batteries claims they are lighter as well, so I weighed them. The standard alkaline came in at 91 grams, the Duracell nimh at 118, and these(NIZN) are 102, so they are lighter than nimh as advertised. So a lighter radio as well. I also wanted to add that the LIPO battery I believe they are using is a 6.6 volt rx pack 1100 mah. The cost is a mind numbing $4.05 from Hobby King.
