We have considered it but seems most Apple users are mobile and do not take those expensive mac books to the track. We do have IOS for phones and tablets now.

It is no small task and we already have to maintain Windows, Android and IOS so unlikley we can justify the investment at this point.

That will work. I've used Vmware before with success.

Not sure if Apple still offers it as an option, but I used to run Windows vía BootCamp on my MacBook Pro 10 years ago and it worked flawlessly. Much better than running through a VM, IMHO.

My opinion who owns a Mac that doesn’t also already have a iPhone in their pocket? Aside from data logging, there is no advantage over using your phone to program the ESC.

The other advantages are that the latest version of the firmware that came with the RSX Pro was not compatible with iphone over bluetooth. Also, to make recently upgraded RSX units compatible with latest app version you need to upgrade them (using a cable). Another, to program Tekin servos they need to be connected by plugging in. I'm not sure that IOS is compatible with using hotwire with a cable.

I ended up buying a cheap windows tablet just to use the hotwire software via plug in... it was cheaper than paying for a license of windows to run on bootcamp. I really wish the software was web browser based and independent of operating system.

Can't decide between RSX, RSX Pro, or RS Pro for 17.5 stock buggy racing on carpet. I think my limitation is the current RS Gen2 in the buggy. Anybody have more success switching to another esc from a Gen2?

I have run both the rsx pro and the Pro BE in my 17.5 2wd cars. I do feel like the Pro BE felt a little faster and is a bit lighter. I also like the top mounted sensor connector. The low mounted styles can be a pain when trying to troubleshoot with the esc in the car. Both are great speed controls, but if you never plan to run mod, I would say the Pro BE.

But is it worth the $150+ over my RS Gen2?

Well, that is always the question, lol. Is it "better" yes, as it has less resistance. Will you have faster lap times? no idea . I see 17.5 cars beat mod cars all the time. Power is only useful if you can master it

Hoping the Tekin Prez stops by soon - Is there a shortage of supply? Bought a couple of Tekin servos on Back Order From A-Main as part of their cyberweek sale, and was hoping to pick up an RSX Pro before Xmas if my budget allowed. Now I see that the back order, originally at the end of last week for both the servos and the ESC, has been pushed to February? This will kind of put a damper on my 2020 debut...

EDIT: For clarity, I’d like to eventually run Mod once I get a feel for driving a car again (coming back after over 15 years - used to run Mod back then). This is why I’m not considering an RS.

why is the Tekin RSX pro ... out of stock everywhere ... and none available till after 2/5/2020 ???

A online store said they had One in stock last week ( 12/14/19 ).. I ordered it.... 3 days later. they called me and said they could NOT find it in the storage area.
they gave me a fair price RX8 gen 3.... with free shipping.

I hope its OK,,,, Associated SC5M, Modified class. Tekin motor 10.5 gen 3. running DIRT.
on 12/14/19.. I broke the single lap track record with my RS gen 1, 2 laps later it stopped working

I am NOT unhappy with the Tekin "RS" 10 years of trouble free service in 17.5 stock. mostly 10th scale carpet pan car...

Fully understand. Just wish you could firmware update through the app.

Almost a year later and one of the first RSX Pro that Tekin shipped is still going strong! Tekin has always been bullet proof for me.

.
try FINDING a RSX PRO... I looked for weeks online ( New )
no on-line vender has any here in the USA.

ended up getting a Tekin RX8 gen 3... arrived and installed yesterday in a SC5M.

my Tekin RS gen 1... lasted almost 10 years of racing.. no gaps.. every year.
YES, I purchased the RS gen 1 new. first year of production.
it failed 2 weeks ago. just after breaking the single lap track record.. by 3/10th.
