Good afternoon, I am writing from Barcelona (Spain). I am hesitating between buying a Tekin RSX or RSX Pro, destined for my B6.1D with Tekin 8.5T Gen 2 in modified class (I already have the motor). Would someone who has both models know how to tell me if there is much difference in performance between the two to pay the extra $ 90 that one and the other cost me in Spain? The RSX Pro costs me about 260 $ and the RSX I have found a store that only has 1 left for 170 $.

Thank you very much for your opinion from the other side of the pond

The main difference is software support, but the pro is also more durable. There are many new features in HotWire that aren't available on the RSX. If you plan to keep the speed control for a long time, I would go with the Pro so you are receiving the latest updates. If you just need a good speed control for a year or two, it might be worth saving the $90.

Newer software with new features and better power components in the Pro, but the original RSX is still a very good unit. A lessor known difference is the original RSX has a BEC that still works good on 3S, so the unit is rated to 3S.. The RSXpro has a BEC that is 2S only so the unit is only rated to 2S even thought it has better power handling.

Yes, the RSX Pro can run any 2-pole 540 can brushless motor down to 2.5T on 2 cells.

The dimensions of the RSX Pro are 31.2 x 37.2 x 21mm, I believe this is without the fan installed. I'm not sure of the dimensions of the electronics box of the XV01, but found mention online that the TBLE02 ESC fits, which has dimensions 42mmx34mmx25mm so I think it will fit. Do you have the measurements of the electronics box?

Yes the RSX can run a 4 pole ROC412 Element proof motor on 2S. We prefer you set it to Dual Mode in the timing profiles when using a 4pole motor.

Please do not shoot the writer of this post. I am going back to race USGT and want the best ESC in order to extract every tenth of speed out of the motor. FYI, I am an accomplished racer. I know Tekin has very low resistance. Weight is also another consideration, but is a secondary consideration. Since I will be running this in USGT can I change the wires to 16 or 14 gauge? FYI The turtle USGT fixed timing motor draws about 1.3 Amps on my Sky RC analyzer. This is much less than a regular 21.5 motor. Money is no object....

How does one adjust the settings at the track? I have not owned a Tekin for a few years now......

If you are looking to extract every bit out of your motor, I would go the other way and use as big a wire as you can. Now, will it make a real difference is another thing, but to me, getting the lowest resistance ESC and then use smaller gauge wire makes no sense. If weight is an issue, then maybe yes, or if you need the least interference from the wires like on 12th scale cars, but on a touring car it is not the case. I would say keep the wires as short as possible, pay attention to have good soldering joints and use the biggest wire possible. This will keep the resistance to its lowest and allow you to get as much voltage as possible to the motor.

I know COVID lead times on manufacturing are absolutely insane, but do we have an idea of when any ESC’s will come back in stock? I’m having an issue with my original RSX where if too much shock goes through the ESC, it completely shuts off. Right after a jump, hard corner, etc. I was looking to buy a pro for this upcoming weekend, but no stock anywhere!

Looking for Hotwire 3.0 advice. My race sessions do not seem to be recording. I practiced yesterday and only got about 2 seconds of recording when I downloaded the data. Pre-Covid, I used this thing successfully. I have either forgotten how to do this or there is a toggle somewhere that I am missing or the Hotwire stopped performing this function.

gotta use a laptop and pita
if you are looking for the best there is better options available with faster tuning, better drivability, and power output imo
