Thanks for the feedback and glad to see guys like the motor. In our testing we did have good results but it's best when more racers get to try them and confirm what we noticed in testing.

Is there somewhere where a newbie can get some info on motor specs and what it all means? I understand the amount of turns, but how does one know which motor is the right upgrade? What is KV? I've read to many conflicting answers about KV.

Wildcat1971 07-31-2013 07:05 PM

kv is an estimated number and can not be compared with other models. same with C rating. plus you need to factor in torque.

Just now ordered me a 7.5 to try out. Like posted above I'm sick and tired of paying the high prices of the other brands. I can't wait till I save up the rest and buy all new SMC packs to run.

I got my 6.5T today.. I took it apart to compare the quality of the motor versus others motors I have used (Murfdogg,Orion,Reedy,Duratrax,Novak). I found that the quality of the motor is great..it compares quality wise to motors twice the price. Also markings on the stator confirmed that this motor is manufactured by Dualsky. Because, of the face plate design I found the motor was easier to assemble than most (its easier to align the rotor). I also really like the sensor port location! So far so good for a $50 motor.

I can't wait to try it out!

the motor looks like a dualsky motor, if so they are powerhouses(well at least my 7.5's were) def worth the $50 bucks

What size rotor is in the 8.5 and will you offer other rotors? I really like a smaller rotor, 12.1mm, in 2wd mod buggy. Thanks.

Wildcat1971 08-01-2013 05:41 AM

+1 it looks very much like a dual sky motor.

Any estimates on when the 13.5T will be available? I can test for you if you wish. :) I am really interested in picking one of these up.

The current rotor in all our mod motors are 4mm/12.3mm we will offer a 5mm/12.3mm rotor which will be smoother as an option. These are the only 2 rotors available with the high quality magnets.

Increasing timing will smooth out the motor.

Wish I could give a date but I really have no idea. As mentioned before we will only offer stock motors once we're sure they are as competitive as possible.

For those who race stock does your track require the motor to be ROAR approved ?

Wildcat1971 08-02-2013 01:28 PM

not for club racing. most everyone here is cheating anyway, lol

Captcha 08-02-2013 01:30 PM

Danny sent you a PM.

Also club racing here we don't normally tech, but we are considering to start it.

Danny/SMC 08-02-2013 01:37 PM

Kind of defeats the purpose of running stock if anything goes.

Easy for clubs to buy a motor tester like the Fantom or MMS and test resistance of motors.

If we wouldn't need ROAR and be able to sell stock motors then we could release some fairly fast and get feedback. As new improvements are available we would then offer the improved one until we hit what racers prefer then have it approved by ROAR. My goal is to keep pricing down and getting the motors ROAR approved will increase the cost.
