My track doesn't require roar approved motors. A lot of people are running high torque rotors in stock classes, there just isn't much teching going on unless you are obviously cheating and people complain.

Kind of strange that no real teching is done but guess tracks don't want to bother. As long as they do check the guy that is faster then I guess that should work.

When you say high torque rotors do you mean stock high torque rotors or mod rotors ?

Wildcat1971 08-02-2013 02:32 PM

A few guys that went to Cactus told me 4-5 guys were kicked out for cheating when teched. The stock class is the cheater class, always was and will be.

Do you have motors for 1/8 off road buggys?

The larger diameter 'tuning rotor'. Sportsman ostensibly means you must use the standard 12.3mm (I think) spec rotor.

It doesn't make that much of a difference, the guys who cheat badly are always the worst drivers, they would be faster if they weren't cheating :p My club is a pretty laid back friendly environment for the most part.

Not at this time we focus on motors that sell the most and if sales are good then we will add different size motors to our lineup.

For a rotor to be considered a stock rotor the center diameter can't be smaller than 7.2mm and the outside diameter can't be more than 12.5mm.

If there is no teching then guys can run mod motors in stock which will be faster. This is the problem with no teching. Even if the guy isn't the best driver he should still be using legal stock rotors and stators in my opinion.

Down here in Houston 1/8 is what sells. 1/10 what's that lol I hope you do come out with a 1/8 motor someday I would buy one for sure

Wish I could give a date but I really have no idea. As mentioned before we will only offer stock motors once we're sure they are as competitive as possible.

For those who race stock does your track require the motor to be ROAR approved ?

My track doesn't care about roar.

Wildcat1971 08-02-2013 04:30 PM

what does the thicker / longer rotor get you? I assume the 5mm center / 12.5mm thick rotors have more magnet and torque?

Good to hear that as I will most likely release some motors in small quantities to get feedback on how they perform in different classes.

Yes smaller center equals more magnet so they will be stronger. The 4mm/12.3mm rotor that comes in our mod motors run very similar to a 5mm/12.5mm rotor. I'm still learning about motors and not sure why they are doing 12.3mm rotors but I will try and find out. Would be interesting to see how a 4mm/12.5mm would do.

13.5t or 17.5T I'm your man. High bite clay indoor track.

Like I said, if its obvious you will get called out. We only run one class Out of 3) atm that really requires teching (rcgt). Attendance has been down quite a bit the past year due to several factors, we only get 20-30 drivers every sunday. Its pretty much just the core group showing up every week, so its not much of an issue.

I am interested in a 17.5 as well. Can you reverse the timing on these motors so they run in reverse? I have a mid motor slash chassis I wanna race in our gearbox class, so I need a 17.5 that can run reverse. Rcgt and gt8 are eating me alive in tire costs.

Use an esc that can change rotation
