Like I said, if its obvious you will get called out. We only run one class Out of 3) atm that really requires teching (rcgt). Attendance has been down quite a bit the past year due to several factors, we only get 20-30 drivers every sunday. Its pretty much just the core group showing up every week, so its not much of an issue.
I am interested in a 17.5 as well. Can you reverse the timing on these motors so they run in reverse? I have a mid motor slash chassis I wanna race in our gearbox class, so I need a 17.5 that can run reverse. Rcgt and gt8 are eating me alive in tire costs. |

When I put my mod motor in my 2wd B4.2 it was turning in the proper direction. In my 4wd B44.2 it was running backwards and all I did was switch the throttle position in my radio and it was now running in the proper direction. Motor was very fast so this seemed to do the trick and is very easy to do.
Is there a limit to how far you can adjust the timing? To actually reverse the motor you need to switch the A and C wire, and rotate the timing -60 degrees. Many motors limit how far the timing ring can move. |

Reversing the throttle channel won't work. That just makes forward reverse, and reverse forward. So if you normally have to double tap reverse to get into reverse, you will have to double tap forward to go forward. Radio manufacturers never standardized on what is FWD and what is REV, so some radios need their throttle channel reversed for it to operate in the normal direction.

Many motors limit how far the timing ring can move. I don't use ESCs with reverse so I'm not sure how those work but I can guarantee you that my B44.2 radio profile is set to reverse for throttle and that fixed the motor direction and my B4.2 profile is set to normal for throttle. |
I got to test my 6.5T in my Xray XB4 today... I was very impressed with this motor. It ran a little bit warm but, I can't complain as it was just as fast as anything on the track. Great torque and speed. For the price you can't beat these motors. They are the quality and performance of a $90+ motor for nearly half the price. I have tried Orion,Reedy,Novak,Murfdogg,Duratrax, etc so far I am the happiest with this one ,because the price is right and its just as fast as the others. I can't wait for the 13.5T motor to come out so I can replace my entire fleet with these motors. The SMC motor paired up with the SMC saddle packs makes for a great power combo. Keep up the good work Danny!
A few pictures.. (I know I'm missing a screw haha) http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/eds24/IMAG0275.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a2/eds24/IMAG0276.jpg |
Glad to hear you liked the motor. So far feedback has been great.
How hot did it get ? Typically up to 180 degrees is fine. Last weekend one racer told me it actually ran cooler than his other motor and had more power. I think timing and gearing has allot to do with the temperature. Seems like each motor manufacturer uses different timing. |
I have a question for you guys. Just received my motor and confused of what the little bag with the spacers/o-rings are for. And help would be appreciated.

I believe it is to shim the rotor forwards and backwards inside of the motor to alter the weight balance of the car. Either front to rear on a 4wd or left to right on a 2wd.

eds24, that spur gear looks horrible. Time for a replacement.
