These look just like the new Hobbywing v10 motors.

A motor is a motor and the end they will all look similar but these are not the same as the V10 motor.

Based on that theyre both black? I can easily tell the difference.

I asked danny some questions about the motors, but i need some other people's opinion. Do you think I can run a motor like this on a savage xs? or do i need a 4 pole? He did say the kv rating on these are similar to what tekin has on their motors. I just dont want to pick up one of these mod motors, and then end up struggling with temps or other issues because it doesn't have the necessary torque. Danny is checking for me what turn motor would be good for both 3s and 2s applications... 3s for short speed runs and 2s for bashing/running on a track. any advice is appreciated. I know its hard to know this without actually running these specific motors, but if they are close to the tekins, would you run a savage xs on a tekin 2pole mod motor?

I asked the manufacturer and he told me that they don't recommend using 3S with these motors. Maybe someone here has experience running 3S with 540 size motors and can chime in a truck similar to yours. For 2S I'm sure they are fine.

Besides being Black , the sensor port is in a similar location and the motor wire solder tabs look similar to the V10, everything else from can design to the endbells are different.

Its like saying a gens ace shorty is the same as an SMC shorty just because they are both black and have inboard tubes.:eek:

That's the 1/10 scale truck right? I would say a 550 two pole or 540 two pole would be best.
That's some weight to lug around for a 540 can.
540 2 pole is for lighter weight buggy, ST, 2wd SCT and so on IMO.

I can't speak to 3 & 4 cell use on one motor, haven't tried. But I can't see how you would not seriously compromise either way. You can change out the pinion I guess between the two to get close but kv and volts is kv and volts... if you pick up a motor that is right for 2s it can't be correct for 3s, you will get way more rpm than that motor wants to see.
If you go with a kv that's right for 3s, it will be a slug on 2s.

Looked the truck up and its not the full size 1/10. 540 2 pole should be fine.

HPI says it can run on 3s, they also say you have to change out your pinion and spur. Drastically different gearing.
That's a pain. Set it up for 2s with a strong motor and then you don't have to tear it down to replace the spur for 3s use.

You're probably best off running a 4-pole castle motor. You can get one of their combos for pretty cheap.

Just wrapping up the Canadian Offroad Nats and guys running our new motors have very good comments on the motors. They tell me power good.

Hope my 10.5 and 8.5 are on the way would like to see 13.5 for my buggy. :)

+1000 on the 13.5....I'm really hoping to see a 13.5 offered in the near future.

All pre-orders for motors will ship out tomorrow.

13.5 and 17.5 will be released once we're sure on the performance. Really want to make sure they are as competitive as possible.

What are you guys running currently for 13.5 ? This will give me a reference of what we have to equal or better.
