I was just about to order several Protek 150T servos when i came across this thread. Has amain taken care of the problem(s) with these servos? If not, what other servo(s) do you guys and gals recommend? FYI: I have run HiTec (every single one of them failed within 2 months), Savox (had brown out issues from time to time w/ one failure), Futuba (got the shakes, stripped gears, and one just stopped working), and now I am running JR (Z9000T for steering and Z9000S for throttle). I have been running my JR servos for more than 7 years w/o a single problem. The only reason I'm getting rid of them is because I want to run lipo. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I was interested in the 150 range while the Radiopost Red model was unavailable. Turns out these were too. The Radiopost came back in stock so I bought them since. They have been real good for steering in a 1/8 buggy.

I highly suggest you try Hitec again, Ive personally ran Hitec for about as long as you JR. So imo you must have gotten a few lemons back in the day, or something funny's going on. Did you ever warranty either Savox or Hitec when you had issues ?

A few lemons... More like, two dozen lemons. I tried everything from cheap 311's all the way up to the best HiTec offered at the time. I sent several back to HiTec under warranty and those failed as well. I ended up giving all my HiTec servos away. As for Savox, I didn't send them back. I ended up throwing them in the trash. The way things are going... I am thinking about picking up some KO Propo servos and calling it a day. ;)

We sell a rather large number of ProTek servos with very, very low return levels. Yes, all servos can and eventually do fail. It's just the nature of the beast. The new cars are faster than ever before and the tracks we race on have harder surfaces than we raced on just a few years ago. Plus most cars either have no servo saver or they are run locked.

When servos got to a level where they had more than enough speed and power we more or less forgot that they were still made with gears and motors. Trust me I know because I am guilty of cranking or eliminating all my servo savers myself. Servos need to be looked at as a semi consumable item much like plastic parts. They shouldn't break unless you do something horrible, but they will wear out eventually.

As most of you already know AMainHobbies has a customer service department that is always there for our customers. We also have industry leading warranties on ProTek products and we go to great lengths to provide our customers with a positive experience each and every time along with the peace of mind that our warranties provide.

One thing I didn't mention was the modern chassis layouts on nitro buggies. As the chassis get narrower the servos run hotter. Not only are the engines getting closer to the electronics but the chassis serves as a heat sink. The smaller the chassis the less heat it is able to dissipate.

These narrower chassis also flex a bit more than the older and wider chassis which also takes a toll on servos. We have created an environment that has pushed servo capability to its maximum but that is what racing is all about right? Push it to the limit, when you push to far, technology will adapt and provide all of us with even better products.

hi, I have had throttle/brake servo issues on a D8T nitro truggy with cheaper servos, they either go twitchy (back and forward) or throttle sticks (doesn't close). the servos only seem to stick when engine is running though. im using a spectrum SR300 receiver with 6.0v hump pack. I have been running a protek 100T on steering recently with no dramas. the d8t throttle servo mount requires the servo wires to be squashed in to fit, with a sharp plastic edge pushing on them. the last servo died completely and was the only one to have bared wires possibly pushing on the tekno chassis. So:
I have ordered a 350T protek servo ($75 atm at amain) and a SR301 receiver (in case its the SR300 receiver killing the servos), and am going to cut away some of the plastic with a hobby tool so the wires fit in nicely. so I think that will cover all possibilities causing the dramas. sooooo, not sure if I should keep the 100T as steering or move it to throttle and put the 350T for steering (I was told too low torque on the throttle can kill the servos). im still kind of a noob and sick of ruined race days by throttle issues, so any advice on the situation is muchly appreciated :) and sorry for the long post, its hard to describe briefly.

I've had issues with a 100t and 100ss servos. it does not shake it just goes full throttle out of nowhere causing near engine damage and runaway that only lasts a few seconds. I do not trust those two servos. I've had futaba BLS 451's in my buggies for over 2 years with no issues. I wanted to try the protek servos but not impressed. A friend also had the same issues with the 150s I think it was. Could have caused some expensive problems in our buggies. One had a brand new engine in it just broken in and the other a just broken in FX engine and the other a modified btt.

My issue is like Nitro Muz.

I seem to have sorted my dramas merdith :) all my throttle servos were dying. since then I have replaced the receiver, re-routed the wires on the hot bodies D8T and put a better servo on. there seemed to be a few problems causing it.

1, original carb was tight on the throttle slide needing constant lubrication to function correctly. put a decent carb on and it got a hole in the carb boot, I think from the exhaust spring flinging off and puncturing it, causing it to get tight like the original carb somehow (it was actually sucking fuel into the boot and squirting it out the hole onto the chassis when I had the carb venturi cap on)

2, throttle servo wires were mega tight, pressed against sharp plastic edges and squished in using the standard d8t battery tray (dunno if it's a common problem with my upgraded tekno d8t nitro chassis), servo wires were stripping and I think shorting out on the chassis causing erratic servo movement back and forwards by itself.

3, was using cheaper servos with around 10kg torque.

so now everything is all good. the second carb wasn't going to last so I have put on a brand new alpha carb and am yet to tune it.
since the mods I have been running the 100T on throttle/brake and the 350T on steering with no dramas at all. now just need to run alpha carb and all should be golden :D

Hi Marty. I have a 130S that started shaking a week ago. I set up an RMA and will be pulling it out of my truck tonight to send back. Hopefully you can repair or replace it for me as its only 2-3 months old and wasn't raced too hard in that time.

I have been running Protek 150T & 150S servos in my buggy and truggy for some time now and I have to say they are great servos! Tons of torque & speed, super quiet and decent prices. I always get comments on how good they preform and looks. Just like any servo, you will run into issues, and at Amain they take care of you! Try them out! You just might like them!
