Steering or Throttle in the truggy? I run Savox 1257 for throttle and 1267 for steering I believe.

Good luck getting them to tell you, but they have tested different gearing and motors in the servos for a year, so it's not like they just re-branded another servo. I've used Savox, Radiopost, and Hitec, and the new Protek 150T servos are the best I've used, very high quality! The only servos that are similar are the KO aluminum case servos.

Really won't have thought they were in the same category as KO. What makes them so great, I also have used Radiopost, Hitec, Savox and futaba. Radiopost would be the smoothest between all stated.

I'm still a Hitech guy. No other company takes back a servo after 3 years and fixes it or replaces it for free. Hell they don't even charge return shipping! That's just amazing and Hitech will always be my #1 choice just for that reason. You can buy 4-6 Hitech's and never have to buy another servo as long as you race. You can't touch that with a 100 foot pole. |

+1 on the Radiopost never had any probs and they are smooth. Back to Proteks I doubt we will ever know who makes them. To be put into KO category is another story and waiting for a good comparison.

Your personal satisfaction notwithstanding, how can you compare the relatively new Protek servo to the KO? Just because its working great so far and is smooth, etc,etc does not by any means parlay into it being the same quality. Racers opinions are definately taken into consideration when others need to choose a servo but when I said it was "bold" to make that statement I meant that there is no statistical data or research to back it up. Regardless I am happy to hear you have such high praise for them. It's nice to offer racers cheaper alternatives when they want top notch gear. I am very impressed with the Protek tool line. I know it's off topic but they do seem to be very well made and offered at a much lower price than the "others" in the same quality department.

The protek line looks alot like MKS.

The ProTek servos have been tested in every imaginable way, and then tested again. We had a year of real world on track data and testing before a single servo was put up for sale.
We had clear goals in mind for the ProTek servo project. 1. Make the best servos available. 2. Test, test, test until every single team driver was 100% happy with each servos performance. 3. Assure durability for a minimum of 1 year. We had 0 failures during this testing period! 4. The ability to offer the entire servo line at unmatched pricing. We achieved all of our goals and are extremely proud of the project. We stand behind anything we sell and we hope you all enjoy them. If you have any questions about any ProTek products my information is in my signature. |
I got a 130t on the way, cant wait to try it out! I wanted a better servo for my SCTE.

The discription for the gears just says "metal" are they titanium? Or, some other alloy?
|
The ProTek servo internal gears are coated aluminum for long life and smooth operation.
|
wow, these servos are nice! I ordered the 130t for my scte. I had to double check I had it plugged it when I first powered it up. No chatter at idle and very quiet even under a load! more than hapy with my purchase. get them while there still on sale!
|
Great to hear MOE. Thank you for giving them a try. I am sure you are going to be very happy with your purchase.

Between the 150T, 150S and 130T which do you feel is the best choice for an 8T E-conversion with MM combo running Castles 10A BEC? I will mainly be bashing with big MT tires and may race it as well. Looking for speed, torque and durability/reliability.

Not to take away from anything you said but there is 1 thing I have noticed from R/C component mfg/retailers when they launch a new product/line is the over stating of testing. It seems (and rightfully so) that products are tested internally by team drivers, given a stellar rating for durability, edge in winning, design accolades and then when sold to the general public are the real bugs worked out.
Club level racers/bashers (self included in this group) don't have the talent or skill of a team driver and we tend to be a touch harder in our racing. Almost all major recent vehicle releases have has some "unforseen" issues that were dealt with after the sale (Xray's new 4wd buggy diff cases being a poster child in a mfg really stepping up, losi scte and 22 issues in there as well) when the cars really get in the hands of consumers. While I can appreciate the desire to put the best foot forward and keep a product under wraps to build the hype, has there been any "real world (not team driver world)" testing? I look forward to seeing how these stack up under some real world action.

I look forward to seeing how these stack up under some real world action. You are absolutely correct in saying that products need to be tested by ordinary bashers to work out the real world bugs. We actually did do that and I should have mentioned it in my previous post. Nearly all of our new products are not only tested by our team drivers, but they are also tested by employees that are not pro level drivers. In fact they are usually the hardest on everything because they know we are testing. The ProTek servos were extensively bashed for the entire team testing phase. They proved themselves for all users. From pro to Joe. |

We all know Hitec's stance on Old/Broken/In Need or service servo's that are WELL out of "Standard" warranty range. |
I agree on the Hitec being durable. I personally use some, but the low cost high voltage one have been big failures for my team. We lost almost 6 HV cheap hitec servos and 2 back to back at Femca race last year. So we decided to get the Savox and Futaba HV ones

I've got my eye on the 150T they are beautiful with that aluminum case. I'd like to get 2 for my truggy
|
Looks like the protek servos took a jump in price yesterday. I was looking at the 130T in the morning for $85, Went to buy it in the evening and it was 99.
|
Are replacement gear sets and cases available (just in case)?
|
I bought 2 of the Protek 150S servos, within 1 weekend of use they both had what was described to me as the "Futaba Shakes".
I sent both back for replacements. I hope they can get this issue resolved as they are very smooth servos that I hope to use for a very long time. |
I got my protek 100t last week for my duratrax dxr8-e... will update this thread with my .02 cents after i get it installed. I was going to get a savox 1256tg but the 100t was kinda close in torque so i went with it instead of the savox. put the left over cash in my gas tank...lol. 4 dollars a gallon for 93...omg! sorry for the off-topic rant.
|
Been running a 130T for a month in my scte, super quiet and smooth!
|
Got a call from A-Main today, they are looking into the shaking issue.
I told them to take there time as I have other servos. I will report back what they come up with. |

They are sending new servos.
Didn't say why. |
Got 2 brand new servos in the mail.
Going to load them up and try them ASAP. Will report back when I can. |
I got the 150T for my Losi 8ight T 2.0 E-Conversion. Running the Mamba Monster ESC. About to buy a BEC to get the most out of the servo and spare the ESC. Running motor brakes so the single 150T is the only servo. Which BEC do you recommend? I already have a Castle Link so either the CC BEC or CC BEC Pro seem like the logical choice, but would like opinions since I have not run a BEC before. Thanks!
|
Just had a 130S die on me yesterday, only after 1 run. In my eyes, it's still brand new. Only had 1 qualifier and about 10mins of a final runtime.
Thought all was good after the one run, so did a 2.5hr drive to race at another track, only to have the servo ruin my day. :flaming: Mine also has the futaba shakes issue at 1mm squeeze of throttle. Awaiting response from Amain. |
Sorry to hear your Woes guys. Sucks to hear.
|
There have been a few servos that have shown signs of shaking. It does not affect the servo and it will not cause it to fail. It is however annoying and we are working on fixing the problem. I assure you it will get fixed. ProTek servos outperform everything out there and we are very upset that some of our customers have had a problem.
If ANY of you have any issues with your ProTek servos contact our customer service department for repair or replacement. We will not rest until each and every one of you are satisfied with our product. |
