considering one of these for my MBX6e, is this to much battery for a 1/8 scale buggy, not looking for a rocket ship, going on a small tight track, looking for control and run times.

That should be fine. The race formula are the "high end" race batteries. The Factory spec regular is more of a club battery or practice battery. Kinda depends on how you drive and your motor, though...
Race formula will handle high amp draws better because they generally have a lower internal resistance and better materials.

What motor are you running with a 3 cell?
If your running a higher kv motor, I'd think about this 3s in a 2s case.

Kind of low kv for 3s, but if you want a mellow car that'll work. You might be a little outgunned on the straights though.
I guess run times you want the bigger pack. But that 3s in a 2s size would be nice with the pro4 HD 3000 kv motor on a small track. Super light buggy.

I'd also consider the new 4s shorty, will give you good runtime indoors and will give you the option to move back and forth for tuning, it's lighter then the 6500/3s, just turn your punch on that motor down and gear it correctly, this would also allow you to run on a full size outdoor track without having to buy new packs!

All this is very new to me, no indoor stuff here, and our track is small. I hate to use the term backyard track because its way beyond that. but theres no A Mains, no real competitive trophy racing, just a bunch of guys running some nice machines out for bragging rights.
fq06, isnt that a 1/10th motor?

Get this

Get this in 2500kv

And this

You'll be ultra light, zero heat issues and you'll still blow away all the 4s buggies, start your current limiter at 50, trust me it will be plenty.

Jpm1, I like the look of that. I have the CC MMM2 now and would just like to run a few packs threw it to see how it goes, maybe this is something I can upgrade to over the winter, what would you suggest for a pinion gear. Ive nitro but this BL is new to me.

That's exactly where I'd go with the build Justin.
But the 4700 1/10 4 pole that I run with 2s has 34,780 rpm at 7.4 volts.
A 2200 1/8 motor has 32,560 rpm at 14.8 volts.
A more mellow 1900 1/8 motor has 28,120 rpm at 14.8 volts, you can get away with that running a 1/8 motor.
Pro4 HD 3,000 has 33,300 rpm at 11.1 volts.
The 2500kv would be 27,700 rpm at 11.1 volts, that's a little out of range and that's with a 1/10 motor.
Don't get me wrong, I have driven a 1/8 Mugen converted to SCT (2s) and the hobbywing 1/10 4 pole moves that around the track and on the straight about a fast as a 1/8. I just think you'd be showing up to a gun fight with a knife again
You would have the more mellow bottom end (compared to 4s) to find traction and still be as fast as a bat outta hell
And AC, you really want a sensored ESC with that motor, it would run on the mamba max but sensorless would not have very smooth bottom end. You can probably find a deal on a gen1 RX8 now that gen2 is out, but the upgrades are nice on the new one.
I guess get a 3s and run your motor/esc setup till you decide you want to continue running it and get the Tekin setup later if you want.

I ran the 2500kv pro4hd in my kyosho with 3s and it was awesome, great usable power but did lack a big of top end, I could of got that with an extra tooth pinion but it was running on the warm side on our large outdoor track, I feel on indoor considering its so tight it would be awesome, it also would not run hot on that size track, either way I'd go with the 3s on the 2200 it's will give you an idea and won't cost you a fortune....

well not really sure where Im heading with the whole BL thing, I decided to pick up a pack one of our fellow brethren RC'ers is selling. Its a 4s, 5000mAh, 40c. I know there should be plenty of power because alot of the guys at the track run them, I'll need to tone it down a bit.
