It appears to be a BEC issue in this one.

He was running:
Air 257 servo
LRP Q1

The light on his PT would go dim and the Spekrum Rx would go into failsafe.

It would shutdown for about a SEC or so, then come back on.

He replaced the system with old stardard Tx/Rx and no issues.

He was able to reproduce it on the bench also.

We did not try the CAP fix, but that is next as a test.

On a side note: he runs the exact system(Tx/Rx/servo) in his gas cars with no issues.

this problem as you mention above has hopefully been addressed with the latest sw upgrades. do you know if this is one of the original units? if so or you think it maybe go to the horizon or spektrum site and return it to them for upgrading. this has happened to several local users and after getting them back the problems appear to have been fixed...

the capacitor could be a temporary solution - which will stabilize the power the transever (sp?) uses and prevents it from dropping into failsafe mode.

Turn it on at the track , wich is outside on asphault and i had to re bind it. Hopefully it was a fluke and doesnt happen again , but after getting a bad one to start off with , i am still skeptical with the second one...
i didn't read back through all your posts but if this is one of the original M8 units you should consider sending it back for upgrading (both units). one of the problems addressed is the shifting of trim settings. it doesn't happen all the time but once is enough and it will always happen at the worst time ;)

the horizon and spektrum sites have instructions for you to send them in. a few local users sent them in and got them back pretty quick when it is just the upgrade being done.

KO Issue

I'm the guy N4S was talking about. I ran it all day without a problem. Time for the main at the furthest point on the track I lost control of the car. It didn't go into fail safe the car just rolled. If I turned my radio off it would go into fail safe. I tried to re-bind to see if that fixed the problem it didn't. I re-chared my transmitter battery thinking that was the issue. (it was 10.0 volts). That didn't fix the problem.

KO Spektrum for sale cheap barely used. :)

My personal KO update...

Well, I had two extra receivers, one that would bind but messed up the trim settings a little, and one that would not bind at all. The one that came with my OK module has worked flawlessly the entire time (I have 3 total receivers). So I took the two faulty ones back to the LHS and tried out the two they had left on the shelf. They worked fine in the shop, so I exchanged them. I brought them home and installed them in 2 of my cars thinking they were fine. When I went to bind them, both the recievers that worked fine in the shop now had the trims off just slightly. However, not really very drastically. A few clicks on the transmitter settings and every thing was back, centered and neutral. I even tried re-binding them with the new trim settings, and even then, they would stay true and straight with the "changed" trim settings. Weird....

So anyway, do you think I should not even try to race with the two questionable receivers on Wednesday night? They seem to be fine now, but it seems that some people have had trouble even after everything seemed to be running fine.

what kind of turnaround are those who sent things in for an update getting? 2 weeks? 3 weeks?

if your unit only needs to be upgraded the turn around is something like 48 hours plus shipping to and from. so less than 2 weeks just recently

Has anyone had binding issues with the KO transmitter module? Would like to hear..

Before I returned it to the LHS for an exchange, I had one receiver that would not bind to my KO. It would however, bind to three other receivers, so me thinks it's not the modules fault....

ETA for Spektrum 3PK modules?

The Spektrum website still says "March."

Horizon's order page says "Not Yet Available."

I emailed Horizon and got no response.

Does anyone know when the Spektrums for 3PK will start hitting the streets?

Bill

Hello Billwilner,
I also left a question on the Spektrum site about the availability of the Futaba modules and I got this "official" answer on wednesday the 2nd of March:

---------------
According to our information, The FUT modules will not be available until the end of March.

Thanks,

I got a pré order out for two sets, so just like me, you're going to have to be patient a bit longer

From HH: Futaba Spektrum "before the end on the month"

From: [email protected]
To: Horizon Hobby Webmaster

When will the Spektrum system SPM1004 for the Futaba 3PK be available?
Thanks,
Bill

Unfortunately these are very heavily backordered and we are trying to fill the backorders as fast as possible. We probably will not have open stock on this item for at least 6-8 weeks. It is best to try to find a local hobby shop that you can get one from, since they get first priority on any backorders that may come in. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Can you at least confirm if/when the street date is for the first actual sales of the Spektrum units for use with the Futaba 3PK radios?

I have not found any dealers selling the specific version yet and the Spektrum website still says "available in March" implying that it has not been released at all yet.
Thanks,
Bill

Well I thought they had already started shipping out but apparently they have not. We hope to start shipping those before the end on the month. I am sorry to confuse you, I guess I am the one that is confused.

Makes me happy I still use KO, since I just ordered mine last night from Stormer(only one they had in stock though), but that does mean they're still working to get more as soon as they can.......:D

talking with the owner of my LHS he told me they would be in by the end of the week.I'm 8th on the preorder list so I should get one of the first batch he gets.

Given that it's a seller's market, are the LHS inflating the $159 shown on HH website?

How much have people been paying so far?

Bill

I've seen most LHS's selling them right at the suggested retail prices.

It's on eBay that you're going to get reamed. . .:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

Seems that the average going price is around $180-200 on eBay.

LHS's seem to be fine.
