Amazing as to why only 4 slots were provided when the competition's older system already provides more! :rolleyes: :mad: :flaming: [/B]
What competition provides more than 4 slots with a similar system? If you need more slots, you sould look into a 4/5/6 channel radio. More slots would have made the Spekturm receiver even larger.

There are a ton of ways to hook up a fan..it doesn't have to be wired through the recevier.

Maybe he means Novak's crystaless system. Their XXtra reciever provides a whooping 5 channel slots along with a Bat/DSC slot. Thats a total of six. And if I'm not mistaken, the Xxtra is actually smaller than the Spectrum reciever...or at least the same size.

Joe B 02-21-2005 10:37 AM

..the crystaless Novak extra is a little bigger everywhere except for being just a tad flatter....it's also considerably heavier (as far as reciever weight goes)than the spektrum.........0.40oz for the spektrum compared to 0.59 novak......dimentions are 165/1.12/0.51 novak, compared to 1.62/1.06/.57 spektrum...........sunday was my third weekend of racing with the spektrum (outside) without one glitch, and noticably faster responce than my M-8 with any reciever to date..........guess I just got lucky I race ouside:cool:

Wow, what a great system! I got to try it yesterday for the first time and was really impressed. I ran it at our carpet track and people always glitch at the end of the straight. Can't wait for next week at RCCAR where they can get over 100 entrys and I don't have to wait for a clip or any funnys!!!! Dominic Favorito

According to the last reply I got from Horizon, they are not able to reply online. Must be company policy.

Does anybody have a material list and a pic of the "cap fix" they can post. I bought one of these for my son and the only problem we have seen, is it will go into the "fail safe" mode a couple times a night. The only consistent thing I have seen and heard is that some Hitec servos cause this (Which is what he has and I might change) Maybe the servos pull too much power and rob the receiver and the cap is the answer. I'm willing to give it a shot. Other than that, I think it is great and can't wait for the JR units.

Y- cord my friend.

Maybe everybody who is having problems should post which electronics/radio they are using. Perhaps there is a combo which causes problems.

AzCrazy1 02-21-2005 02:12 PM

I'll start:
My son uses M8 radio, Spektrum rec., Hitec HS5945MG servo, Novak C2 speedo, Peak Vantage motor and Pro-Match batts.

L.Fairtrace 02-21-2005 02:24 PM

Seems to be the M8 and Spekturm combo causing the problem.:lol:

My son uses M8 radio, Spektrum rec., Hitec HS5945MG servo, Novak C2 speedo, Peak Vantage motor and Pro-Match batts.
How many cells?

These combinations work great:
6Cells M8 Spektrum JR DZ8450 Servo Novak Brushless
6Cells M8 Spektrum KO PDS2123FET Novak GTX Vortec 9T

No caps required.

thrust 02-21-2005 07:57 PM

Tested without capacitor:

6 Cells M8 Spektrum JR DS9411 GTX => WORKS
6 Cells M8 Spektrum KO PDS-2343FET GTX => WORKS
6 Cells M8 Spektrum KO PDS-2343FET LRP Q2 => NO WORK
4 Cells M8 Spektrum Air 94145 GTX => WORKS
4 Cells M8 Spektrum Air 94145 LRP Q2=> WORKS
6 Cells M8 Spektrum KO PDS-2343FET LRP IPC => NO WORK
6 Cells M8 Spektrum JR DS9411 LRP IPC => WORKS
6 Cells M8 Spektrum JR Z590M LRP Q2 => WORKS
6 Cells M8 Spektrum KO PDS2123FET LRP Q2 => WORKS
6 Cells M8 Spektrum KO PDS2123FET GTX => WORKS
6 Cells M8 Spektrum JR Z270 LRP Q2 => WORKS
6 Cells M8 Spektrum HITEC HS-5925MG LRP Q2 => WORKS

The only bad combo so far is KO PDS2343FET and LRP ESC

rcracer255 02-21-2005 09:58 PM

I'm running M8, specktrum,futaba servo, gmV12xc and have had no problems yet. I have another spectrum receiver but have not tried it yet i'm affraid it will not work and give me problems.

allrc 02-21-2005 10:38 PM

Why do you expect a problem with another receiver? Just bind the second receiver the way you did the first and there should not be a problem. Holy Moses, you'd think I was a company spokesman. LOL

thrust - Wow! Thanks for the info! I use the exact same DZ8450 & Brushless combo in many of my Off-Road kits! I'm keeping my fingers crossed then!

koabich - The "competition" (as of now at least) that I was referring to are any of the synthesized systems available... particularly Novak's. Yes, I know there are other ways to power a fan... using a Y-Cord or universal Y-Harness as has been suggested is one. Having plugs centralized to one spot in the car makes things a bit more convenient and clean.... all I am saying is it's unfortunate that more wires would have to be used in order to achieve this when having extra slots at virtually the same size & near weight would easily have been possible. :nod:

robk - Thanks for your input with regards to the Y-Cord tip... it's an option I also considered. :nod: But again, I am just surprised that such a new & revolutionary product wouldn't be made to accomodate at least the same amount of slots that a much "older" receiver like the Xxtra (as you guessed!) does?! Oh well... too bad then. :rolleyes:
