if your system is old and hasn't been updated before then my suggestion would be to send both transmitter and receiver back for firmware upgrade.

I am running a DX3 with a spektrum rx in both my Savage and Cyclone/Pro4. This weekend, all three vehicles ran off at one poinit or another. The Cyclone went swimming and thank God for the sludge or it would have totally sunk, killing my eletronics. The Savage, went str8 on a turn and nailed a berm, leaped, flipped and landed upside down. The Pro4, rolled to a stop. So, I ask, whats going on?!?!?. The radio is about a year old and has never been dropped. Why am I losing connection? Why isnt the failsafe kicking in? How can one tell if their radio is an "old" one? Many cats at the track have jumped on the Spektrum bandwagon, but not enuf to intefere with the "roaming frequency" hullabaloo I have heard about. Any help would be appreciated.

I think I will just send everything back in when I have no racing planned.

I will say I really love running the spektrum system. Have ran it the last two seasons and have had no real problems. This isn't even much of a problem if I'd stay off the boards, just sometimes that's impossible. The system has worked flawless for me in offroad in a T4, gas truck, and 1/8 scale. The main reason I ever got it was so I didn't have to wait for a clip to practice and I hate antenna's bobbing in front of my face. :)

I guess I read this thread too late! I bought four (4) SR3500 micro Rx's this weekend, guy at LHS gave me a good deal on them $89.00 each. I figured what the heck for that price. One for my Pro4, one for my 6-cell pan, one for my 4-cell pan and one for my soon to be T2 007 EU. Well I just tried to put one in my Pro4 with no luck. Turned on ESC and like I've read, it blinks twice then nothing. So I tried another one, samething. Tried another one, samething. So I tried number four and, you guessed it, samething. So I ask, WTF! $380 and some change and I have, NOTHING! UGH!!

No wonder he sold them to me for that price!

My defective 3500 receiver was replace by my LHS and the replacement works great. The original was sent back to Horizon. C1, 4 for 4 bad ones, that sucks, see if your LHS will replace them before you try to send them in, then try to bind them at the hobby shop so there are no surprises when you get home. My guess is Horizon's dumpster must be overflowing with these little things. I feel very lucky that my second one was able to bind.

JR-Z1 Response Mode

What should I set my JR-Z1 response mode to when using the Spektrum Pro system?

Normal
Super High Speed
Advanced High Speed

I had it in Advanced High Speed and it was acting funny but when I switched to Super High Speed it was better but slow.

I could'nt find this in the thread, might as well ask. is the pro series tx modules compatible with the original dsm receivers?

dr_hfuhuhurr 12-07-2006 07:08 AM

Yes, it will just be slower than pro-series to pro-series.

I discovered something wierd on my Spektrum last night at racing.
In my 12th, I run standard spektrum with a cap, but no receiver pack. I was having issues were for some reason my steering was not working at all, and when I unplugged the cap, it worked, but then the car would shut down at around 7min, so I was a bit like this :weird:
After playing around for ages, trying to work out what the hell was going on, I discovered that when the cap was plugged into the battery slot on the receiver, I would loose my steering, but if the cap was plugged into the 3rd channel, it all worked fine and the car ran no problem at all.

So yea I still don't know why the cap effects my steering when its plugged into the battery slot, but as long as the car goes now I guess it's ok.

I would suspect there is something shorting out in that slot.

The power is all common. If you take the case apart and look at the posts that stick up (that go into the plugs when you plug them in) you will see they are directly connected.

Did you "BIND" the receivers to the transmitter?
