Well I just recieved my pro series yesterday. To bad I willhave to wait till the following weekend to try it out. The new Micro reciever , what I call it is very small. Basicallly 1/2 the size of the orignal one. They done away with the bind buttom. You jump to connectors like you do with the DX6 airplane version. Wich is fine with me. The bind button has a high failure rate. Also you wont be able to use the micro reciever if you plan to use the Spektrum Telemetry.

I just went with the HRS spektrum and stood the rec on it's side...with all the lead I have to add to my car there is no way someone could tell if my rec is stood up or laying down...

Micro:

1.06 X .78 X .48 inches
6.5 g
.39 volume (if I calculated that right?)

Original Receiver:

1.62 X 1.06 X .57 inches
11 g
.97 volume (if I calcualted that right?)

The nice thing about the micro is you can stand it up in places you couldnt necessarily stand the original. For example I can stand it up under the top plate of the RDX. The length of the micro is the same as the width of the original. So when you consider you could have maybe a footprint of .48 X 1.06 or .48 X .78 versus 1.62X1.06 if definately creates a lot of room.

Enough about its size though :)

I'm strongly thinking of moving to the DSM world, but I would like to hear from the folks that have Telemetry, what you think of it, and the lap timer... Or is it a waste of money? Just asking... I currently only run elec.

Waste of money. The lap counter would be the only good feature. I have it and regret the purchase. Just get the micro receiver and the necessary module and you'll be happy and clip free.

That layout is a work of art. Definitely the cleanest brushless setup I've seen.

Hi

I am looking at getting a futaba 3vcs and the pro spektrum set up it (spm1015) and I want to know will I have to also upgrade to a digital servo as well?

Thanks

Did anyone actually feel the difference between the old DSM and the PRO series?

Here's 2 pics of the normal spektrum receiver vs the new micro one.

I was SOOO disappointed when I saw that you have to cut your Futaba J-connector tabs to use them in this new receiver. It was bad enough with the JR receivers. I had my hands on the new receiver and put it back down when I saw that. I know it's petty, but I am almost exclusively using Futaba servos and the thought of hacking away at the plugs again turned me away.

I may gather my strength and go back to face the music, but I sure didn't want to see that. Can anyone tell me if you have to contour the edges like you do with the JR receivers, or is it a simple cut of the J-connector "key"?

Just so I don't have to search this whole thread...

Can you use the Spektrum TX/RX combo with a Ko Mars R? I know it works in the Helios but wondering if people have them mounted in their Mars R with no problems.

Thanks

I hope a Pro DSM series is offered with the new 3500 micro receiver instead of the bigger one soon.
I dont want to buy a pro DSM package + reciever at the same time.
