Just upgraded to 528 mod with a 7.5 ORCA motor, can people recommend any settings to start with.

This is for a 2WD 201 Vega and Cougar SV. LPF in my 2WDs and GT2 Pro in my 4WD

I'm also planning this for my Tamiya 511, but need to get a new motor first, not sure whether to go 6.5 or 8.5 and use the boost etc.

Cheers,

Mike

I ran a lrp 10.5 and 9.5 in my durango and found that both sort of shuttered at low rpm and seemed to have a power-band to them. Off the ground giving throttle i would get a gradual acceleration and then a noticeable kick in rpm change around mid throttle. Does this sound like a bad flash? Or possibly a sensor wire issue. Temperatures where fine and i ran the night with 9.5 without much issue other then the low rpm lag shutter and that strange power-band effect. Almost as if it had timing of variable timing which it did not.

(side not the week before i had be having thermal-ling issues with the 10.5 running stock software) I wont discount the possibility of Esc issues but it did its job last nite under temp and without issues..

Ideas?

thanks in advance..

Just an update. Indeed as suggested it was a sensor wire issue, Installed a fresh sensor wire and the bench test worked. Tonight i used it in race trim tonight. It ran flawlessly and temperatures where under control.

Thanks speedpassion family! :)

Get some blank setup sheets for 528 mod here.

http://www.speedpassion.net/files/Sp...m_528Stock.pdf

Write down the default settings for 528 mod as a referance. I would then start with Cockerill's 422 setup below as a base. You can compare the two. 422 is "hotter" and more aimed for stock so I believe settings should be pretty safe. Watch temps!

I used 528 mod with 7.5 in 2wd and 4wd for the past few months with most of the settings near the max without any problems. Its the last sc setting you want to tame down to -3 or so to keep motor temps in check. Especially in warmer weather. I used 23/78 geared in a b4 and 22/78 in a b44

Okay, so that puts you at 8.81 FDR. Thinking about trying an 8.5 D3 in my B4 this weekend with the 205Mod software. I assume somewhere 8.6 to 8.8 FDR is a good starting place? JP's setup sheets shows 78/26 with a 9.5, but I have no idea what the tranny ratio is in a XXXCR.

JP.R 04-28-2011 11:58 AM

The XXX-CR ratio is 2.43:1.

Thank you sir. Whole new learning curve. Flashlight racing died here for several years after K&M closed, so I just left brushed stuff in my cars for the once a twice a year they got raced. Really picking up steam here now so I've put in BL and trying to play catch up. Almost makes me miss truing comms, and testing spring combos and brushes and carrying a lathe with me everywhere. I said almost LOL. Now dangit, where did I put my spring post tool? Yeah, I still have one.

Accidentally posted in the on-road thread because I didnt see the offroad thread for SpeedPassion but was re-directed to here...

I am getting back into RC cars after selling off all my equipment and have recently been given the Speed Passion GT Competition Brushless ESC v1.1 (720 amps) and a 13.5R Brushless Motor ver 2.0. I am going to be putting it in a 1/10th 2wd buggy.

I am looking at getting a 3.0 Competition 8.5. Will the V1.1 be suitable to drive this motor? Will I see any issues? I see their is a new GT2.0 and 2.1. I have liked the Speed Passion brand and would love to have it power my 2wd buggy.

By no means am I a great racer. I get to the track twice a month and just like to mess around. I like to be competitive though.

Thanks!

Chirag

Yes you can use 8.5. I found this link with specs on your V1.1. Check it out.

On the website, we called the ESC motor limit to 9.5 simply because the ESC itself uploaded with the Supercharger software within....IF the user not handling the software/setup correctly with motor hotter then 9.5 (like 8.5 and faster)....motor will be blow up within minute. The note about motor limit to 9.5 is simply a caution (Liability issue)........and we expect customer to ask question about the true potential of the GT2.1 ProStock.

Gt2.1 ProStock can handle as high as 5.5T motor, so does GT2 LPF. GT2 PRO has no motor limit...however, if using software like 528mod/528stock (with supercharger) on any motor faster then 10.5T....special caution has to be address. The best is...ask the setting or check out our website for the specific setting on the specific firmware in order to avoid your motor blow up in minute...

Yes, I still have (3) V1.1 running perfectly....it will run on 8.5 motor without problem.
