Fan

If you have room mount the fan next to the esc blowing on the solder posts. That's where most of the heat is anyway. I have ran a 4.5 on dirtoval without a fan and ran a 3.5 overgeared but had to mount the fan like mentioned because the wires kept coming unsoldered:D

Go with the 2.1 Prostock. It can handle hotter mod motors if you wish to go that route sometime in the future. The 2.1 comes with the latest 528 stock. I believe the EX is geared more for pan cars and 1 cell lipo racing. You will need the LCD program card for future upgrades from the Speed Passion site. It makes it alot easier when you interface with your PC or laptop or just alone with speedo.

Got a question, although I suspect I know the answer. Is there any way to load the various software versions onto my laptop so I don't need an Internet connection to change software on the speedo? Because right now if the track doesn't have WiFi, no track side changes, or at least no way to do it that I'm aware of.

kwiksi 04-26-2011 09:49 AM

Yes, but you will need the LCD program card as the interface between your speedo and laptop. It can be found here.

The latest firmware...V1.35 is here.

If you already have the LCD card your good to go.:D

I was lazy and didn't read through the entire thread are the citrix stock spec esc or the short course master esc brushless compatible? I was just wondering because that would be amazing if they were I am trying to switch to BL with the lowest possible cost but still getting decent quality.

My question is what is the difference between the 2 esc's. Is it just the software? I will be racing stock 17.5 short course class and anything goes as far as boost and timing. Do I have to purchase something else to upgrade the software or does that come with the esc?

Thanks for replies......

Like our driver mentioned....what you need is GT2.1 ProStock.

EX has the smaller heatsink but it is mainly design for the 12th scale or 10th WGT car that has very low body type without much room for the heatsink.

GT2.1 with ProStock can handle your 17.5 with our latest supercharger software.

All of the GT ESC sharing the same firmware. 1 set of firmware for all these ESC to use, you just have to pick the right internal software for your class/motor to use.

And yes...you need to purchase the LCD programmer card in order to connect the ESC to your netbook/computer.

Once you downloaded the V1.35 onto your computer, you DO NOT need internet access to access your firmware...you just need your LCD programmer card to connect your ESC to Computer and let them do the talking. You choose your SOFTWARE within at trackside or practice, without any WI-FI required...

But you will need your COMPUTER and LCD Programmer card in order to change software....you just need your LCD programmer card if you want to change setting but using the same, installed software.

No...they look the same, but totally different. We purposely make them different because Club Spec ESC has no timing adjustment, is design for club racing, ROAR sportsman racing, or any kind of no timing racing...

Short Course master has timing adjustable feature....and other features that club spec not required to have. You use club spec because you have to meet your track requirement...you use SCM because the class that you are racing does not have any restriction on the ESC setting.

For the speed programmer card needed to update the software shown in the link from speed passion posted above, is that the same one that comes when you buy a combo set? Like the silver arrow v2.0 w/ cirtix motor?

No...

The LCD card has 2 lines of LCD reading on the screen....not just the number like the LED card that came with the ESC.

Bingo. I thought when you ran through the list of available updates from the USB software they were being loaded from the website, but sounds like I was mistaken. So, when you load the latest USB software (V1.35 right now), the various ESC software profiles are loaded onto the computer with the USB software? Sweet. I already have the LCD programmer and have been changing software, just wasn't aware I could do it without internet access.

Thanks, any idea of when you'll be getting them back in stock?

I have a few more questions about 2.1 pro stock. The only class I will be running is short course truck 17.5 class with a sc10 on 2 cell lipo, boost and timing are allowed. With the programming box that comes with the esc are you able to change settings 12-15 that are the boost level and rpm engagement settings or do you need the programmer card for that. On the pictures of the program box I noticed that it only went up to like 10 on the description of the settings. Does both the pro stock come with boost setting and supercharger options?

Is the 2.1 pro stock paired with a 17.5 v3 better for short course truck racing than the speedpassion short course master 17.5 combo? The price sure is nice on that combo, but didnt know if it would be able to compete and just hold me back. I am just a little above the middle of the pack driver.

The more I look at stuff the more I keep changing my mind.

Thanks for replies

Yes and Yes! I actually used similar setup to win 1st place Amain in Prostock SC at CRCRC! I used a GT2.0 Pro w/17.5V3 and 101212stock. I posted my speedo setup and pic on first page.
