Which ESC...
Which ESC would you suggest for Mod 2wd Buggy or 4WD Buggy with down to 5.5 motor?
Thanks in advance. |
GT2 Pro or Hobbywing 120A. Speedpassion is made by Hobbywing.

Talk to Mike K, Fraizer or Walt...and they will tell you what to get. If you are running stock SCT @ LHR...boost 17.5 is the class to run. GT2 LPF, GT2.1 ProStock or GT2 PRO all works...mate with V3 17.5 or MMM 17.5.
Gary, get one of those ESC's and the motor. I'll help you get the 323stock stock software in it after that and you can check with Frazier on how he runs his. I have an idea but may be off a little on a couple settings. You should get the LCD "pro" programming box in case you ever want to update or change the software in the ESC later on your own. The programming box it comes with will change the settings within the software that is loaded. You can't load new/different software with it though. Ifyou don't get it right away, no biggie, I'll get it set for you so you just have to worry about changing some settings on it after I load the 323stock software in it. Howard, do you have Mike Frazier's setup posted on the web site? You should get it from him and post it if it isn't already up there. |

Thanks in advance. edit: just saw your other response. You could load the 323stock in the lpf and put a fan on it. They sell them separately. Just screw it in and plug it in. I run 323 stock in 2wd and 4wd buggy but then just turn the boost and turbo way down when I don't need it. |
you guys are the BOMB!!!! :D

well just wanted to share an update
took the pro stock 2.1 and the novak 13.5 to the track with the blinky mode. friend showed up who had never tried rc before so we signed him up. the sc 10 ran back to back with 10 or so minute waits between each run for motor cool down for 4 hours of practice. then it did double duty in the sc class and the novice class. the esc and motor only got 2 race gap rests between each run. the electronics ran flawless for the entire afternoon and night the sc10... well the body looked like well... yeah beat up, a rear bumper gone, a couple of those stupid body mount black circles gone |

I would suggest running the 323 stock software and turning the boost and turbo functions way down to start. As well as the DRRS option (It works like an initial launch mode). Start at 1 or 2 for DRRS. That's because of the low grip. Turn boost and timing up about 10 at a time and see how it feels.
Gear it around 23/78 for a buggy and work from there. You could probably add a couple teeth to the pinion, to be honest. Also just one more question about the timing on the motor leave it in the middle or 5 or 10? |

Thanks for this i know in the UK we run much larger pinion i be running 27t ish anyways.
Also just one more question about the timing on the motor leave it in the middle or 5 or 10? For motor timing, I usually have it about in the middle (5-ish). I worry more about the last setting on the ESC to keep the heat down. ACC is between 300-500 depending on 2wd or 4wd buggy. This setting keeps the motor temps under 130 usually. (4wd buggy is geared 19/84 and has moderate boost/timing, by the way, with temps under 150 on the motor. same 5 degrees of time on the motor) Hope that helps |
Just converted my 22 from a Tekin set up to a GT lpf. I had a couple of questions:
1) Any suggestions on placement of the cap in this car? 2) Going to run a 13.5mmm for power. Looking for a good starting set up on an off road track, roughly 84x45 dimensions. As previously mentioned, this is in a Losi 22. Although I have the LCD box on order, it won't be here until next week so I'm stuck with the normal box this weekend. I'd like to get settings using both the normal box and the LCD. Thanks! |

Then stick the switch on the side of the ESC or on the plastic under where it sits and zip tie the wire nice and small right there. When you get the LCD box you will want to hook it up to the computer and download 323stock into the ESC. Then use the LCD programmer box to change those settings. I feel that software gives the best overall performance and tuning options. I don't remember which software is pre-loaded from the factory. 205mod maybe? Turn up the DRRS setting for more launch but be carefull of too much for offroad, same with the boost function, the last setting should be on the lower end for more power but higher motor temps. Maybe 2 or 3. With the last setting the lower number runs faster and hotter. I gear my 17.5 and 7.5 the same at 23/76 with the 22 and that's either motor on a 50' straight or 200' straight. when you load the 323 stock software you can check the website for my stock buggy 17.5 setup and just turn down the boost and timing to about in the middle (20-25). and change the last setting to 150 or 200. that should get you set pretty good. |

It shows that the 2.1s are discontinued now...the 2.0s are still showing for sell. I wonder what's next for SP. Something similar to the r10 maybe?
