V3.0MMM motors are a lighter armature over the std V3.0 design. This from the speedpower website: "New motor timing from +11 to 20 and NEW stator design / 5g lighter than V3.0 Series"

http://shop.speedpowerrc.com/1-10-co...ushless-motor/

I've tested both and the new 3.0 version is better on the low end. More torque and spins up faster.

in regards to speed passion software: I also wish they would update faster but I also realize EVERYONE who does any Apple development MUST be at the mercy of Apple's schedule. You can have an app working and complete and end up waiting a year for approval. It's just the way it goes, Apple has a total stranglehold on what gets approved and what doesn't. This stifles development. I work with two audio manufacturing companies and we deal with this issue often. We can't blame it all on Speed Passion...Apple too.

I have been impressed with my speed passion equipment, motors are fast and a great value. The ESC's work very well and are super smooth. The WiFi module (although it is VERY buggy with iOS7) is good. It's very nice that they include the programming module. More often than not I don't need to get very deep with programming, I adjust the timing and DDRS functions and not much else. You can do this with the programming box easily.

Unfortunately I've had pretty bad luck with their service. I usually have to write to them several times before they answer and often when they do it seems like they are having trouble with the language barrier or something. They will respond without answering the questions I've asked. The last motor I purchased from Speed Passion was DOA and when I contacted speed passion it took several weeks to resolve the problem. Many letters and several that went with no reply. I came very close to having to call my credit card company and cancel the transaction. The post office lost the replacement motor and again many emails to Speed passion with no reply. This was finally resolved however it took months. I ended up buying a spare motor that arrived before the replacement ever did. Now I'm sending the replacement back....to trade for a V4.0.

As far as Electronics goes, I have yet to run anything more powerful or better than LRP, both on the ESC and motor fronts. I STIL have a Sphere Comp that I was running in my stadium truck with an LRP X12 9.5 and no truck could come close. They are the top of the food chain in terms of power output, no question, but The latest ESC from them I have is the Sphere Comp TC which is even more brutally powerful but still uses the button depression system for adjusting settings and they're not terribly adjustable. Not sure how adjustable their modern ESC's are but if they are just as powerful as before and feature all the adjustability as many others then I'd say they're worth they're cost, and the same goes for their motors. They are just that good.

Speed Passion's products are just a hair off but so close, as is Tekin, Orion and the like, but they don't cost nearly as much as those others for the same or better performance. At the JConcepts winter series race #2, TWO guys running Tekin went up in flames when the heat was too much and the posts unsoldered from their ESC's mid race while fighting for the top 3 positions. One was an RX8 on an 8 scale and the other an RS Pro on a 1/10 wheeler.

Having had little issues with my RS Pros myself, that's was all I needed to see to finally go with Speed Passion all around after experiencing nothing but excellence with the R unit I bought for stock racing.

Looking at Face Book USA Warehouse page, and there is no descriptions on motors. Wish SP would put a little more info about their products so we could compare. What's the difference between the V3.0 MMM motor and the V3.0 motor? Like I said not much info about either...

Look to their website for info. http://www.speedpassion.net

I originally started with Orion motors and purchased a 6.5 and an 8.5turn from the VSTPro line of motors. I did a lot of testing back and fourth between them and my 8.5 Orion never really cut the mustard. I could never get it to be quick. I tried different gearing and it just never really had the speed and acceleration that I would get from the Speed Passion motors. I haven't had an 8.5 in the Speed Passion motors to do a direct comparison yet, but my 6.5 Speed Passion was actually faster than my Orion. Granted I'm not doing Dyno testing here just what is working for me on the track. I did test on several tracks, outdoor and indoor, different surfaces etc. I had both motors for quite some time. Testing in my both my 410 and 210.

I do wish the iOS stuff worked better but I don't see myself needing the software much. I don't usually change firmware at the track. Usually only timing and DDRS. Maybe a little more braking.

Lastly wanted to see if anyone had tried the Muchmore racing aftermarket firmware for Speed Passion?

Was looking at these combos on their site but they are all out of stock of the pro 1.1, is this because of the v4 motors? I would like to get the new combo, but want it before the race on July 19, does that sound possible?

can you run a reventon pro on a sc104x4?

I race a SP Reventon Pro 1.1 in my TLR SCTE-TEN 2.0 4x4.

Yeps. You can pair it with the Blaze 4600 and 5700kv 4x4 motors.

Reventon pro 1.0 with a novak ballistic motor. I've tried a 4.5 and a 5.5 with the same result. The motor will run fine then suddenly the whole thing will lock up almost like you blew up the tranny and it jammed. Give it a second and then it will work again. I have the esc in blinky mode but after this happens the Speedo will blink both lights alternating with each other.

Anyone know what is happening?

you are running a preety hot motors sir, I suggest you program your esc to normal mode.

It's Dirt Oval, not offroad. We do an oval with about a 230 foot runline in about 4.6 seconds a lap.

Crossing my fingers, I think the problem was 2 different bad sensor wires. It was a calamity of errors. I was swapping all sorts of electronics to try and solve the issue, but I never considered that I replaced my sensor wire with another bad one. Last week I finally had it working until I overheated and temped out in the main. All the swapping around I was doing, I accidentally added about 20* of timing on the 4.5. I made 3 minutes out of the 4 minute main. Oh well, big race this weekend, hopefully everything is working now.

I was just going to suggest the sensor wire, but thought it was resolved already. When both lights (orange/red) are blinking it's indicating an issue with the sensor wire.

Blinky on a Mod motor would be less strain than if you were running boost. I'm running a Mod TC with a 4.5 and boosting. The ESC can handle it. :)

This is good info to know, I couldn't find anything in documentation or on their website about what the lights were signaling.

Thanks!

Like I said, my first assumption was the sensor wire, swapped it out and still had the issue. Little did I know I had a pair of bad wires lol some bad luck there.

I've having some trouble with my Speed Passion Reventon Pro ESC. It powers up, the receiver and transponder and fans all come on. The orange and red lights glow solid in neutral and respond to throttle and brake. Although the motor wont' spin, or it spins just a touch and stops again. I've tried resetting the calibration and I've also tried a spare motor. Same issue with both motors. I've also tested both motors on another identical ESC and they are working fine. I've tried a spare sensor wire as well, same issue. If the motor is plugged in and I give it throttle (never full just a bit) I noticed the system seems to have serious current drain like a short as the fan RPM goes down significantly. Kinda like likes dimming on your dash...Also I don't seem to hear any beeping for confirmations when I calibrated. Just the lights to confirm and that it turns off.

Any ideas appreciated! Thanks!

13Maschine 06-21-2014 02:22 PM

I've swapped out two different sensor cables now as well. My guess is maybe a short in the motor wires so I think i will try soldering a new set up. I've tested my capacitor and it stays charged after I disconnect the battery so I think it's operating properly.

Thanks all!
