At what point should I add the fan to my Prostock ESC? I was up to 103* when outside temp was 97* but it did not "feel" warn to the touch.
Thanks again
Mark

PS

You can if you want. I run a fan on both my wheeler and SC truck with a overtray cuz theres no airflow. 2wd I don't.

Just wanted to add I recently got a GT 2.0 LPF and put it in my FT T4.1 and I love it. I waited to put my fan on the thing but it got a little warm and it has run perfectly in two days of racing/practice. Changes are easy to make and instructions are informative. And big thanks to Albert for all of his help! Without having to go over thirty pages of info has anyone used their Ultra Sportsman V2.0 motors? I am thinking about getting a 7.5 or 8.5 to run in my truck instead of the 10.5 I have.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what are the main differences between the SP GT 2.0 pro and the non pro, I'm looking to get the esc for my FT B4 but just wanted to make sure if there is a reason to spend 40 bucks more on the pro version....... Thanks

SP used to recommend the LPF for off-road applications and the Pro version for lower turn motors in on road TC. Now I think with the use of boost in some of the Mod classes the Pro would be a safe choice for 4wd buggy as well.

For your B4 the LPF would be fine.

Go with the 2.1 Pro Stock, for the b4.1. It runs anything you want. I run 7.5 with no fans no problem in my 2wd Cougar SV.

On another note, has anyone run the SP speedos with non sensor motors? Is there a setting change to make with the LCD? Or just disconnect the sensor cable? I know if I was on the track, and there was a cable failure, I would see a output difference. I dont know for sure what to do.:tire:

The nice thing about the LPF is the way it fits under the body. Not sure how tall the 2.1 Pro is, but I know my 2.0 Pro with fan won't go under a B4 body. Been running the LPF for about 3 months now. Track temps above 120 last weekend and after 6 minutes motor temp was under 130, speedo was about 120, after 12 minutes both were a little over 140. That was with a 17.5 with boost abd turbo maxed to 64 deg, but it's been similar with an 8.5, no boost or turbo. Love the 2.0 Pro in 4wd.

RMA#

Anyone have any direct contact for Speed Passion.

I have been trying for over a month to get an RMA number on the web site and constantly get a Internal 500 error every time I hit submit. I have tried on 2 machines at 2 different locations with 3 different browsers and same thing. So started sending emails the last couple weeks asking for an RMA number and explaining what is going on, and no response. Then this last week I start to call because my warranty is up soon, They answer take my name and number and say they will call back and never do.

Seriously this is ridiculous. Any Ideas on how to get them actually do something and fix my stuff.

Rob

You can try PM'ing Solara, I'm not sure if he can set you up with an RMA, but he does rep speed passion and has been quick with all questions i've had

when i had a sensor cable fail motor was a tad hotter.....and the only time i noticed the sensor not being there is in a stopping situation.........i bet you would really notice if you were doing boost

Robudda 723 you might try this # 888-928-1328, can get ahold of them but not sure you can get any service, I 've had my speedo sent in for 5 months, had to resend warranty card & receipt twice & still have no speedo.

I have the ultra sportsman 17.5 and like it. I'm not as fast as the guys running timing but for now I don't need the exttra speed. this is my first BL motor so I've gone through a few growing pains and it still seems as good as day 1.

zeakemedia 08-14-2011 11:29 PM

Thanks Mark. I ordered a 7.5 for the B4 buggy I just picked up. I know it is way more than I need but brains are not in my wallet, money is. Or at least enough to get that motor.

About 180°F is the limit...just for you to know. We ran full boost 17.5 on TC without using the fan and it always work. I think, if you are not running anything faster then 10.5T motor with full boost/turbo, you don't need it...

But still, check ESC TEMP and add fan if you think it is needed.
